My experience with Off the Rack was great up until it was time to be paid. Near the end of my four-month consignment agreement, I called the shop to ask if my items had sold (following the very detailed process in the consignment contract to call three days prior to the contract end date). I was very excited to hear that everything sold, but in discussing how to receive payment I was informed that I had to wait 30 days. This was very confusing to me because if my items were sold and you received the money, why do you not have enough money in your account to pay me in a timely manner? I gently pushed back on waiting 30 days and was told that the contract said you had up to 30 days to pay out. I did not have the contract in front of me at the time but checked it later and there is nothing in the contract that I signed on April 18, 2025, that states you have up to 30 days to pay. My contract states, "Payout will be made after the end of the 4 month contract and scheduled when you call the store." Nothing about 30 days, but that sentence is just vague enough that you can schedule people as far out as you want to as long as you convince them to go along with it. I chose not to push back and wait till the date you gave me, which was the week of Sept. 15. I went into the store today, Sept. 20, and was told I was scheduled to be paid on Venmo and there was not enough cash in the drawer for my payout because you only leave enough cash in the drawer for your scheduled payouts and you had me down for Venmo payment. That's fine, I can understand there are risks with having too much cash in your drawer, however if I was scheduled for “the week of Sept. 15” and in your weekly planner for that date, why wasn't my Venmo payment sent on Sept. 15? And really, the question is why weren’t you able to give me my payout at the end of the contract? I appreciate the business you have in Huntsville and you were very successful at consigning my formal dresses, but when it comes time to pay your consignors you need to have their money available to them when the contract ends. It’s just not good business to do it...
Read moreThis is the worst consignment shop I have ever worked with. I've been fighting for my money for over two months. I agreed to a $100 late fee because I had to use PayPal instead of the check I originally requested—one of her many excuses was that she was switching banks and claimed the money was held for over a week. I left 60 gowns with her in January, and it’s now August, and I’m still trying to get paid. I have proof of everything and know she has done this to others.
Additionally, the other dresses I picked up were in terrible condition. I have photos and videos showing hundreds of dollars in damage, with some dresses—clearly brand new with tags—already worn. I will be posting these photos and videos as proof. I don’t want anyone else to go through this.
She was extremely rude to my husband and me, throwing all my dresses into a pile on a couch and hanging some by the dress without using hangers. She never apologized or took responsibility. She takes people’s dresses if they don’t follow her timeline, but if she does wrong, it’s acceptable.
She claimed she took on too much umm, but she accepted people’s goods without payment up front. So not sure how she’s yet again the victim. When items sell, she’s supposed to return the money to clients, but she spent it and was rude about it.
I have been in business for many years, and this is the worst experience I’ve ever had. If you’ve had a similar experience, please reach out. I am considering legal action for the damages and delay in payment (still waiting on late fee $100) and will also be filing a claim with the Better Business Bureau.
I have more photos and videos and conversations I will be adding including to Facebook and other places. So hopefully this does not happen to...
Read moreI will not do business with this consignment store again. I placed my items on consignment and had unfavorable results. She had very strict deadlines for picking up items that did not sell (which were only fair as they were in the contract). But my main issue was receiving payment from the owner. The amount of my payment was only $82.00 but she made me wait approximately one month for payment. I requested cash because a check had a $5.00 fee (unbelievable) and when I came to pick up the money a month later per her instructions she only paid me $70.00 as she claimed that was the amount of cash she had available.Shame on this business owner! She would not even write a check for the difference but indicated she would mail a cashier’s check for the difference. When you make your customer wait a whole month for a measly $82.00 and you do not have that cash on hand when the customer comes to pick up her promised...
