(THIS IS NOT A REVIEW OF EARTH AND STONE PIZZA) Disclaimer: Yellowhammer beer is my favorite of all the local brews. The venue, however, is consistently crazy packed. This really isnt the fault of Yellowhammer. The reason for the lack of the fifth star is while the staff is attentive and relatively prompt, on occasion there can be some, shall we say "sketchy" bartenders that swear by all thats good and holy its a pint, when the size of the glass suggests some extraordinary physics must be involved in getting 16oz in that clearly 12oz glass. I would HIGHLY recommend a unique shaped glass for each quantity. I have a photo of 5 differently shaped glasses sold to me as a pint. I do not hold the proprietors responsible for this inconsistency beyond maybe their less than thorough training, maybe. Moving on... the beer is always cold and they have a great variety of brews - something some other breweries lack. I am a lager guy and it seems MOST breweries cater to the IPA crowd. In my estimation the selection fits almost all tastes. I see some of these reviews are regarding the Earth & Stone Wood Fired Creations pizza in the back. While I understand these two share the same venue, I dont think its fair to rate both...
Read moreYellowhammer is a great place for casual meetups & family gatherings. The crowd during the weekdays tends to be people just getting off of work and looking to socialize with some pizza and drinks. The pizza place inside (Earth & Stone) offers gluten free options as well as our local tea brand, a Piper & Leaf. They also serve adult (alcoholic) ice cream. In spite of this being a bar, this place is very kid friendly. If you sit on the porch (covered, heated, shaded) the kids can play in the large field next to the porch. It's a great way to have kids burn energy. They also have live music periodically. Locals love the beer selection here, but they also serve tasty cocktails. If you're not familiar, Yellowhammer is on Campus 805, which is an old middle school that was converted to a campus with bars, brew houses, axe throwing, pinball, arcade games, a coffee shop, and more. It's all around a really great place and I highly...
Read moreThe new location is huge, clean, and a little cavernous. I went on a Wednesday early afternoon and there were only 5 guests in the place. Bartender was knowledgeable, helpful, and friendly. Flight was good and growler filling a breeze. The taproom is separated from the brewery by the bar and a huge window behind the bar. You can see the brewery but you are well removed from the actual work. Yellowhammer does not brew my favorite beers but crafts solid ales over a wide span of styles. I believe there were about 12 of there own beers on draft. Great is the wood-fired Pizza place inside the brewery. No more waiting of food trucks or schlepping your food across the city. Dog was allowed on patio. I do believe that beers at the brewery should be priced lower than in a bar. It's kind of a manufacturers outlet and the taproom should create positive buzz for the brewery and allow visitors to sample beers at a low...
