Playa Azul — Restaurant in Hutchinson

This is not only MY favorite restaurant, but my WHOLE FAMILY'S favorite place. The employees are all extremely clean-cut, ALWAYS immensely respectful and very accepting of kids. They don't just tolerate kids, but genuinely seem to cherish children, making a comfortable, kid-friendly dining experience, complete with high chairs or booster seats. The service is consistently fast, (which isn't even necessary since you get to snack on chips and fresh salsa while you wait.) The food is, without fail, always delicious, presented attractively, in HUGE portions, and reasonably priced. I appreciate the broad variety of Mexican beers, and you simply must try Jarritos glass -bottle sodas for the kids. Our 'go-to' meals are the Pork Chile Verde (delectable pork roast topped with the perfect combinations of sour and spicy green chile sauce) and my personal fave, the Jalisco Fajitas (a sizzling blend of beef, chicken and shrimp with onions, sweet peppers and tomatoes, smothered in queso blanco white cheese sauce, and served atop rice.) We had a large crowd in which we reserved over a month in advance. I understand there were many of us and it was chaotic but we could see the waiters visibly frustrated, and often had to search for someone in regard to menus, drink refills, to-go boxes, and paying the checks. It also seemed like they were ready for us to leave three hours prior to closing even though we tried to pick up trash and stack plates/drinks the best we could. I'm sure it would have been different had there been less of us but I can't say I recommend coming here with many people. I wrote this review after consideration as I did not want to come off as unfair but after consulting with other individuals at the event they tend to agree. Honestly, we love the food here. And, the table service is good. But, we have had a few issues with them being dishonest about the total. A few times (that we know of) they overcharged us. Because it's a handwritten ticket, we normally don't question the total. But recently, we were over charged by at least $10 (we wrote down what each item costs this time because of our previous issue). When asked about it, the front guy obviously knew the total was dishonest . He tried to play it off, but after re-adding the order he corrected the bill.
