This past weekend I renewed my vows and had planned on feeding my guests pizza. I was told by a Papa John's employee a few weeks ago that I would just need to give them a 24 hour notice when ordering. I called in my order to Papa John's on Friday around 1-1:30 PM. I ordered 25 large pizzas in total and a 45 count chicken poppers for children. I requested that they deliver it the next day, Saturday, by 7:15 PM. Great. Done. No problems.
I received a call from a random cell phone number, not a Papa John's number, at 6:50 PM Saturday night, right as we were about to begin the entire party and 25 minutes prior to requested delivery time. I did not answer because I was greeting my guests and getting ready to start renewing my vows. I happened to look at my phone and noticed I had a missed call and a voicemail. The voicemail was apparently a Papa Johns employee who stated they had been trying to get a hold of me all day. They had not. Not once did I receive a call about or from Papa John's prior to this voicemail. They told me their power had been out all day and they were unable to fulfill my order, 25 minutes prior to the time they were supposed to deliver.
I had been in Hutto all day. At no point had I heard anything about power outages anywhere in town. Granted it was ridiculously windy that day and a huge storm hit that evening, but nothing indicated that there was an outage prior to this voicemail. Luckily I had people who were able to talk to Papa John's, cancel everything and request that they refund my money. They then called Domino's (which happens to be not far from PJ's) and Domino's received our order of 25 pizzas and had them delivered in around an hour.
I probably won't stop using Papa John's or this location because to be honest, I don't like Domino's and I hate Pizza Hut. PJ's has the best pizza by far. However, the way this situation was handled was inexcusable and very disappointing. My bank account still shows a pending charge for the pizza order and I hope that doesn't come out because that will be another issue in...
Read moreIt's a Friday night. We've had a long day and have a van full of hungry kids. We decide to call for a pizza and movie night. I order the pizza online and pre pay for it. I drive to pick up the pizza on our way home.
By the time we get there, the kids are now singing in unison the "I'm hungry song," often confused with whining. So, to avoid a disaster I send in my oldest to pick up the pizza and stand outside of the van. I convienyly parked in front of the store and am able to be seen by my daughter, staff if they choose to ask where I am, and the singing kids in the van.
My daughter is ignored. For quite some time. Another customer looks outside and sees me, as I wave assuring him I'm watching her. She continues to be ignored. After several more minutes and a few phone calls I take everyone inside.
I'm quickly greeted as the other customer is handed his pizza. We politely smile and I make mention I wish they would have acknowledged my daughter, to which the customer responded it was quite sad.
The cashier told me their phones were down. It happens, I get it. When I said I was disappointed they didn't acknowledge my daughter who was picking up my pizza, they had no response. No apology, no "I didn't see her," they just carried on. Overall the customer service was disappointing.
The pizzas were as ordered and are what one would expect from any last minute, fast food,...
Read moreWe order pizza very frequently from here but I think we're done now. The last time we ordered it was so bad we actually called to voice concern, they placed us on hold after offering a refund then never picked up the phone again ALL NIGHT even after repeated attempts to call them back. (they were NOT busy at all) We were very cordial when we called - we only got angry after they avoided our call.
The pizza from here is typically sub par - sometimes worse than others - clearly most of the people who work here have no pride in their product. Sometimes the dough is not spread out and even enough that there are huge mounds of doughy spots in the middle, sometimes they hardly put any sauce and others it's so saucy the pizza is soggy and limp. There's usually about 2 inches of crust all around where they haven't spread the toppings out and the slices are usually cut so poorly that there's a few tiny slices and a few massive ones. I never complain because it's still edible but the fact that it was so bad this time I actually tried to call them and they treated us so poorly made me feel it necessary to warn others. Order from here at your own risk, you might get lucky or it might be so bad your kids won't...
