Went to top notch earlier for lunch with the princess. The fries were good, but everything else was meh… my daughter got chicken tenders fries and I got fries and a special top pick burger. The top pick burger had unmelted shredded cheddar cheese, and some odd bbq sauce. Overall not a great burger experience. We also got the regular cheeseburger, jalapeño burger and a chicken thigh. The regular cheeseburger tasted like a larger jr bacon cheeseburger without the bacon. It was good. The jalapeño burger wasn’t very good, about as well crafted as the top pick burger. Also got a fried chicken thigh, which was decent but I wouldn’t call it good. The fried? Grilled? Chicken sandwich was pale and wobbly, not crispy. We ordered fries but I’m not sure what in the world they gave us. The shrimp and fish were worse than a frozen mega mart bag. The shrimp and fish were hot, fresh and crispy, but mushy and flavorless on the inside. I got the original burger again, that was still solid. If someone handed me that and fries I’d be happy, but wouldn’t pay for it again. The onion rings were crispy, but had a very odd taste… not sure, maybe that is growing pains for a 40+ year old restaurant. The milkshake was good. Fried chicken sandwich - 0/10 Onion rings - 2/10 Fish - 1/10 Shrimp - 1/10 Coleslaw 3/10 Milkshake - 7/10 Fresh squeezed lemonade - 1/10, sour and bitter. Chicken tenders - 4/10 Top pick burger - 2/10 (my daughter said this tasted like Jolli-Bee) Jalapeño burger - 3/10 Regular cheeseburger - 5/10 Fries - 7/10 Fried Chicken thigh - 4/10 Service/atmosphere 10/10 If I come back I’ll be getting the regular cheeseburger and fries. But first impression is that we got another mediocre restaurant in Hutto, roughly the same quality level of whataburger.

Burgers were Top Notch today! Alright alright alright… if I’m being honest from 1-10 I’d give a solid 8! This was their first Friday being open and it only took about 25 minutes from getting in line to getting our food, can’t fault them for being busy the first week they opened and honestly glad to see they are. The orders were getting called out left and right! The food was fast, fresh, and hot! Burgers are grilled over flaming charcoal, adds great flavor! We got a chili burger and double Jalapeño burger! Both burgers were excellent! The sweet tea needed a few more tea bags, and the fries were overdone but the malt milk shakes were perfect! The atmosphere was kept classic like the original and feels like you nearly walked in to the original Top Notch in the 1970’s with a modern touch. Glad they kept it original!! This location has a nice outdoor seating area out back with good music and plenty of space for the kiddos to run around. Hope to see them expand more locations to the surrounding counties outside of Austin!

This is the second location for Top Notch, inside the new co-op space in 'downtown' Hutto. Food: Your standard fare with burgers, hot dogs, fries, chicken dinner, shakes and malts. The mixed chicken dinner was so-so. A slightly warmer than room temp wing and thigh served with mash/gravy, coleslaw, and a slice of toast for $11.49. Onion rings were great, as was the burger. Service: Counter-style ordering and you'll pick it up when your name is called. Cost: Mixed chicken dinner, a burger combo, and drink addition ran us about $31 after tax. Overall: Still new and getting up to speed on service and all those details such as keeping up with refilling ketchup and wiping down of tables and making sure orders are correct. Otherwise, it's nice and spacious inside with tables outside and room for kiddos to run about. Takes cards and lots of parking. Car hop service coming soon.

When this place opened, I saw a lot of negative reviews by a bunch picky people that made it seem like a bad food joint. I've gone here easily a dozen times now and NEVER had a bad experience. Food has always been damn good!

As far as my wife, son & I are concerned, we've loved just about anything we've tried there! Their fried shrimp is great! French fries slam! Onion rings delicious! Chicken tenders are on point! I'm not a fan of okra, but my wife said these ones are pretty good. Shakes n malts are tasty too. Now I like to consider my self to be somewhat cheeseburger connoisseur, I've loved em since I was 2. So far every burger I've tried here has been great! Never over or under cooked, always constructed as a burger should be (not a big mess that someone just through on a wrapper), no one ingredient over powering the flavor (w/ the exception of the top pick, but I think it's supposed to be smothered in sauce). Personally, I think that Snuffy's has the best burger in Hutto, but for fast food, Top Notch is hard to beat!

Service is always awesome, which isn't something you encounter much of anymore. Same type of crew as the Wendy's or Sonic here in Hutto (teenagers) except these kids know how to actually speak to and interact with customers in a way that doesn't make you feel like you're inconveniencing them by placing an order lol. I also have never had an unreasonable long wait for my food.

Overall I love their food, always received great service and never had a bad experience. If I had to pick something to gripe about, they're definitely on the expensive side...

The burger in no way was like the advertised pictures. It was no better than McDonald's $1 menu burger but less salty.

The sweet potato fries don't deserve the name. They should be call sweet potato matchsticks. The consistency was the same--thin, dry, tastes like wood.

And the SCROOGE MCDUCK AWARD FOR THE MOST STINGY, CHEAP, GREEDY OFFER EVER GOES TO TOP NOTCH HUTTO! 👏👏👏 Customer: "Can I get all shrimp in the fish and shrimp meal?" TN: "Yes, that's no problem." Customer: " How many shrimp do I get in place of the fish?" TN: "One." Customer: "One for each piece of fish?" TN: "No, just one extra shrimp in place of the shrimp for a total of 5 shrimp." Customer: "Really? Uh, ok never mind. I'll take the fish."

THEN TO ADD INSULT TO INJURY, THE SHRIMP BARELY QUALIFY AS MEDUIM BUTTERFLY BREADED SHRIMP. Low quality and no better than $5 per lb no name frozen breaded shrimp from the grocery store. THIS IS THE SHRIMP THAT WAS SOOO PRECIOUS YOU COULDN'T EVEN PART WITH TWO IN PLACE OF TWO PIECES OF FROZEN FISH FILETS THAT ARE ABOUT 2 oz EACH. GORDON'S CRISPY BATTERTED FISH FILET BEAT THESE SAD SOGGY FISH FILETS HANDS DOWN! For that matter, McDonald's cheap fish filet is about equivalent and it barely qualifies as fish.

I won't bother giving the details on how poorly the staff followed our requests. Requests that were clearly printed on the ticket stapled to the bag. I'll end by just saying it's kind of TN HUTTO to employ the illiterate.

Bottom line: Go to...
