Candy Land Sweets — Restaurant in Hyde Park Township

This was my first time visiting this establishment. I have been eager to try all of the things and support black owned. The Wonderland theme on the inside is cute. Where I decided that I would never visit this establishment again was the customer service of the cashier. She lacks patience and communication. Please label your items, and ensure that the menu is updated if you do not want to, or know how to sell or explain items, especially to first time visitors. The cashier kept making every item we ordered so confusing as though we were the confused ones. The slushies had no slush, this could be because they were just opening an hour and a half before we arrived. The food is overpriced, the appearance is cute, but the taste isn’t there. The milkshake tasted sour, and the chips, tasted stale. It also took a while for the order. The cashier, again, sat behind the counter mean-mugging the customers. Not sure if that is the job for her. She seems to hate it. Also, she does not wear a hairnet. The other young lady and gentleman there were nice. There are tables outside, but nowhere to discard the food. If you’re in the area and need a quick bite, a small treat, and a slush, try it. For me, it was a one and done.

Update: The store responded stating I only wrote negative reviews, untrue. CLEARLY in my review I highlighted areas where there were some positive features, HOWEVER, instead of being condescending, train your employees on customer services. Great reviews are earned. Customers pay for experience, and on this day, this establishment lacked in that area. If that’s how the owner responds, no wonder the worker had a terrible attitude. No refund is needed. I was supporting a black owned business, but I can understand why it’s hard to do so. Good luck. Hope to see you around in 10 years. Changed it to one star because it obvious as a business owner you can’t comprehend that you pay for your items first. Be happy someone gave you all a chance after all of the bad reviews I received word of mouth. Overpriced and not worth it, if we are being honest. Once I left and shared my experience I received several, I told you so. Again, won’t be back again. THAT’S how you handle poor customer service. Keep it up, yall won’t be around long. We aim to make this our happy place and serve the community with great hospitality. On sad note we been having other candy stores come visit us and leave bad reviews, going as far as to say the food old that’s impossible because we sell out we nasty to customers, that’s impossible we aim to please all our customers. My First time there through the door they're friendly and patient. I know sometimes trying a new spot to snack at can leave you wondering,ok what do I want? They had all the throw back candies like the the cherry balls. They had Italian Beefs. I personally came there for the pickels. I was nerves on which one to try so they made it easy with samples. They also have Elotes and Nachos. I had the Chicken Nachos with all the trimming and it was good. I wasn't crazy about the corn plus I got minds all plan so don't go off me. Over all...
