Magic City Bbq Catering & Soul — Restaurant in Hyde Park Township

On 4/11/25, wanted some BBQ nearby and was surprised to see this place listed on Google search engine after putting my zip code in. I had just gotten off work and was on the train headed home. This place is also on UberEats so looked on the menu and decided to try their pork rib tips. It's clearly listed that there is a 20-25 minute wait on orders which was perfect for me because by the time I got off the train to this establishment was in that exact time frame.

I had the address but couldn't find them at first. There is a vacant business building in front but their business is tucked directly behind it. I spent a few minutes trying to find them. When I did, I parked in the lot and went in. The guy at the front was friendly and when I told him that I had a UberEats order, I was happy to see that it was ready.

The rib tip order is plentiful - worth the $25 price. They don't skimp on the sauce which I liked. The sauce has a little spicy kick to it just as an fyi. We enjoyed the BBQ and the fries were tasty too. I will say I was shocked when I walked inside the establishment because the menu there has more offerings than what is on their website or on UberEats. If I had known they offer chicken wings and gizzards, they would of definitely gotten more money out of me so my suggestion is that they add that onto the online menus unless there is a specific reason why they don't include it there.

My other suggestion is to please get a sidewalk sign to guide customers as to where exactly their business is because they are a bit hidden. I didn't like having to spend time searching for where this place was.

Other than that, I will be back. I know some customer reviews are complaining about the 20-25 minute wait which is a long time but they definitely have that information posted so you can't say you didn't know. Hopefully they can work on curbing the ready time a bit so it's not so long. I want to definitely try their Sunday soul food menu as the offerings look good.

Here to only give my honest review Sunday July 6th I had the opportunity to come here for the first time for a BBQ meal. They didn't have any grilled chicken ready was told it would take an hour so I said fine I will try the short ribs with two sides. Now keep in mind the menu is not detailed as it should be because I ordered the short ribs with two sides which were mac and cheese and dressing and a extra side of chicken fettuccine with the intention of having smoked barbecue short ribs that was smoked on the grill with barbecue sauce I was highly mistaken!!! When I got home and opened my dinner I had on two strips of short ribs with gravy that was oven baked!!! Now anybody who cooks knows if you put short ribs in the oven and oven bake it without barbecue sauce it's going to taste just like pot roast it's sure enough that's what it tastes like but it was very good pot roast but wasn't what I expecting, The dressing was horrible!!! Real dressing lovers knows dressing is supposed to have the "Holy Trinity" which consists of peppers onions and celery which it did not have nor did it have sage, poultry garlic or no seasonings other than pepper. The chicken fettuccine wasn't made with homemade sauce but it was okay. Really the macaroni and cheese was the best thing I had on the dinner plate. I will try this place one more time maybe I will try the hot links hamburgers if that's barbecued on the grill. I do suggest making the menu a little bit more detail about the ingredients because people have allergies and it's not detail on what is in it nor how the meal is served or how it is prepared and for $24 I definitely should of had 3 strip of short ribs instead of 2 because of the bone to meat ratio. So im feeling a bit disappointed. I wanted BBQ not...

Magic City Barbecue…. I am a frequent customer and the Food and Services is amazing!!! The customer service is great, the atmosphere is great, the quality and quantity of the food will continue to make you come back for more and more .

The owner is on point and on hand with any concerns questions. If he if is not on-site he definitely gets back to you via phone to address any concerns or Issue. (1st hand experience) I feel that’s a phenomenal commodity to have as a black business owner.

It’s unfortunate that you missed the AMAZING FOOD AND SERVICE because of your arrive time. Tucked Away or Not you can Smell them Ribs from off the expressway almost.

With that being Please don’t be inconsiderate of black business owners “in particular” because we are here to support each other as all other races do.

I recommend that you stop by AGAIN on any day of the week for great food and service!!!!! (Prior to food is sold out. Prior to 30 mins before closing time . Prior to any unforeseen circumstances, that may occur)
