Stopped by here for a quick bite to eat. The place for the most part is clean. They have a no gun sign on the door. There's a decent variety of foods, most of which you can order jerk style. They surprisingly have things like king crab and lobster tails (which I assume is because they're down the street from the fish market.) I opted for the catfish dinner with dirty rice and broccoli with cheese. It took 20 minutes to make and comes with garlic bread. Everything has a milder taste than I was expecting. The dirty rice should have just been called seasoned rice because there was almost no ground beef in it. It's like they just cooked a box of zatarain's and threw some specs of ground beef in it along with half of the seasoning packet.
The cheese with broccoli is ok. They cook it with butter and cheese, none of which seems to be high quality, but the broccoli itself is fresh. As for the catfish I was expecting it to be tossed in jerk sauce or have jerk seasoning mixed into the breading. Turns out they just pour a thick jerk sauce onto the fish once it's plated. It looks like mole sauce and is so mild it might as well be. I honestly can't taste any spice at all which is weird since usually jerk sauce has a kick to it. The sauce is also noticeably salty. I would suggest saving money by using wax paper instead of foil and repurposing things towards higher quality ingredients. They've got the appearance down, but a great restaurant focuses on good food too.
Overall, I like the overall idea of things, but it can definitely be improved. The food itself looks good, but is underwhelming and overpriced ($24 for the catfish dinner.) I'll definitely check back in later to see how...
Read moreSo I eat from here often, through Uber or regular pick up and never had an issue before. The 2 Stars are because of my experience yesterday. I ordered a catfish dinner that had hair fried into the breading of the fillet. I was about halfway through the meal and this was a midnight, so they were closed when I discovered the hair in my food. Obviously i threw it out but I did keep the hair to show the breading crumbs attached to it. So I call this morning when they opened and they asked how much of the food I ate and offered me another meal, I figure it’s the morning I don’t need a catfish dinner, if you’re offering I’d just prefer a refund ( mind you never initially asked for a refund, I told the young lady I was just calling to make them aware, only asked for the refund because a new meal was offered.) So this rating is for the customer service because apparently if you find a hair in your food halfway through but you still ate some of it before finding it, you have to have photo proof of how much you ate (I actually went in the trash and pulled the food out to attempt to send the photo but because half of it was actually in the can and no longer in the tray the photo wouldn’t have fully showed Everything that was left) , you also have to hear the manager asking in the background well what does she want, a half order in return since she ate half? And when you state that a refund is preferred, they don’t say anything but I’m sorry. Why in the hell would I want a half order in replace of a full order of soul food in the morning right after breakfast? More importantly why would I want the same meal I just had a sickening experience with? Smh, lesson learned? Take photos...
Read moreI placed an order on S2 website and paid for the food on the website. I went to pick up the food, gave them my name and was told my order will be ready in 2 minutes. After waiting 30 minutes I was given someone else order. I told the manager that wasn't my order and showed her my online order. She then asked if I used chow now on their site. I replied yes. She then called the company to confirm the order. I showed her where the money was taken from my bank account. She told me that they don't use the website to place orders because they don't have the equipment for it. So basically I left without food that I paid for on their website and after waiting for over 30 minutes. I ordered food for my family and went home emptied handed. They took the money from me and did not attempt to help with the problem. I was told that I could place another order on Uber eats and wait for it or give then the order there but that I would not receive the special I would have gotten from ordering on line. The manager said that this keeps happening but did nothing to rectify the problem. I tasted one of my friends food and wanted the same thing but I will never order from them again. Total waste of time and money. Still waiting for my refund which She made sure to tell me that it wasn't coming from them. Nothing was offered for my inconvenience and the manager didn't care. Won't go back there and have nothing good to say about...
