I moved to Chicago in the midst of it all . Change😎😎😎😎. Was missing my moma Heart loved food and stumbled upon this little humble of joy. Of course we know that nothing will ever be like your Momma's,Motha's, mother's food. But I promise you that it will give 90 percent of the food will give you that feeling. Being so far from home Roy's food is just has 💓 warmed felt as the Owner Mr Roy. Who is always busy moving fast but always take the time no matter what . To excknowledge his guest his place I like to call home. The staff is always curtious no matter what the season may be. Sometimes I am not able to make it to Roy's. But let me say this Roy will show up and show all the way out. By bringing the sweet goodness to your door. My God !!! Can I get a witness. Hands down the delivery guy is the most respectful and patient young man that I know. When I can't find my keys ,or maybe me being slow due to overnight guest lol. He is always patient and humble and never complains . Roy's has a great team and business. An I personally am thankful for the Goodness Roy's,crew brings . Once again I know I expressed alot . But honestly I meant, mean every single word. Please support this Black own business it's will always be worth your time and money....
Read moreGood food is just what the doctor ordered! LOL. I had a taste for some dressing, greens, and Mac n cheese. I started looking up Soul Food Restaurants in the area. I located Roy's. I didn't know what to expect since I had never eaten here before. I've also not eaten any beef, pork, nor chicken for close to 2.5 months. I just knew this would be a difficult chore finding a soul food restaurant that offered a veggie option. Well I was pleasantly surprised! They offer a veggie plate with a choice of 3 sides from a list of about 10 soul food favorites. I ordered dressing, greens, mac and cheese, and pinto beans with rice and cornbread. OMG! Absolutely delicious! Definitely "homemade" and nice portion sizes. The prices are awesome! Much tastier than a few other more "popular and extremely crowded" soul food restaurants in the city. With COVID, there is no in dining available. But that's fine for me. I can pick up and go. The only draw back is there is very minimal parking and you must be aware that the parking lot across the street will tow your car if you park there. I will definitely return. In fact I will probably order a veggie plate tomorrow. (Smiles)...

I decided to overlook her unprofessionalism and still support until she rushed me by saying “you better hurry up because we're actually closed” with more attitude. After I decided to just eat elsewhere and leave. While I walking out she yelled to her fellow employs “we caught a blessing!!!” I was confused because I didn’t consider losing money and a possible returning customer “A blessing”. I wanted to love this place but I didn’t make it that far due to the less than subpar...
