Small Cheval, nestled in the heart of Hyde Park, is a delightful haven for burger enthusiasts seeking an intimate culinary experience. From the moment you step inside, the cozy ambiance sets the stage for a burger journey unlike any other.
One of the standout features of Small Cheval is its commitment to simplicity and authenticity. The crisp thin fries, reminiscent of a homemade touch, serve as the perfect prelude to the burger symphony that follows. Each bite is a harmonious blend of textures and flavors, showcasing a meticulous attention to detail that elevates the entire dining experience.
The thick whipped milkshakes, a luscious companion to the burgers, are a testament to Small Cheval's dedication to quality. Sipping on these decadent treats feels like indulging in a sweet, velvety cloud that perfectly complements the savory notes of the burgers.
Speaking of burgers, a gem among their small lineup, the Wagyu Truffle Cheeseburger stands out as a true masterpiece. This particular creation is a rare gem, as Wagyu beef is not commonly found in most burger joints. The marriage of the rich Wagyu beef with the earthy truffle and the creamy cheese creates a symphony of flavors that lingers on the palate, leaving a lasting impression.
The uniqueness of Small Cheval extends beyond its menu to its charming dining spaces. The interior, though small, exudes warmth and intimacy, creating an inviting atmosphere for patrons. For those who prefer the open air, the park picnic-style benches outside offer a delightful al fresco experience, allowing guests to savor their burgers while enjoying the...
Read morePositives first: The milkshakes are good a bit on the small side but actual ice cream and milk. Fries are also good oil used to cook them wasn’t old so the fries were crisp and lighter color. They are by a park with picnic tables outside so on a nice day you can sit outside.
Negatives: The hamburgers are only 80% beef 20% filler it tasted like grammar school cafeteria burger day. The prices are high then they add an extra service fee in addition to your bill plus they want 22%,20%,or 18% tip for taking your order at the cash register. Then you get a pager to come pick up your order. This is crazy no waitress no services at all so what are you tipping for just the employees showing up and taking your order? A veggie burger is over priced after tax and service charges. Very expensive for what you are getting. Final thoughts: if you want a milkshake and are looking to sit outside then this place is fine. If you want a good hamburger five guys is across the street. Go get yourself a real meat patty somewhere else save yourself a few dollars. I realize that rent is crazy in the city so prices are going to be high. But give us 100% meat because we are paying for it. With so many excellent options within walking distance I won’t be back. Too bad you had to use filler on your meat to make an extra quarter off of me. I could have forgiven everything else but you got greedy at the cost of taste. For a burger joint you...
Read moreWhere do I begin? Upon entering we were not greeted by staff, thus we had to call over someone in the back to come to the cashier's area to take our order. Our cashier was a woman (reference for management:working at 5pm) who had a horrible attitude. She was not welcoming and seemed irritated by all of our questions such as; what comes on your burgers? Do you have any specials? Etc. Once we placed our order which was 2× ( Burgers, fries, and milkshakes) it totaled to $50.65. The price is ridiculous when the taste and portion sizes were bland and small. Then, ti add salt to injury they have the audacity to add a surcharge. What on earth are we being charged extra when there was little to no service, we had to pick up our own food, and the food was low quality. The beef for our burgers was dry, tough, and bland. Also, BEWARE they will nickel and dime you for each item; it's an extra charge for lettuce, extra charge for tomatoes, and extra for pickles! The milkshakes were basic and you could do better at Shake Shack or Nickys (in Beverly only). The atmosphere was lacking any cultural warmth and actual warmth. The entire seating area inside the restaurant was cold, so my partner and I couldn't take off our coats. Do NOT GO HERE! It is not worth the price, energy, or weak...
