Cedars delivers to the Woodlawn area, so we opted to stay in on our final evening and get some tasty Mediterranean right at our doorstep. We placed our order online and it seemed like it got delivered to us in no time. I feel like the prices are pretty reasonable - my meal was sub $15 bucks, which for Chicago dinner seems like not a bad deal. My friend and I both ordered the chicken shawarma plates. My other friend got a falafel wrap and the last of us ordered the harissa wings. She's the resident Chicagoan and raves about them, saying she orders them all the time. I didn't try any, but they did smell divine. My other friend said the falafel in her wrap was the best she'd had in a while. I tried a bite of their potato side dish and they were really good - super buttery and crispy. I enjoyed my chicken shawarma meal. The rice was fluffy and plentiful and the chicken pieces were still moist. I do wish the vegetables had been a little more diverse; it was mostly onions with a couple of peppers mixed in. Overall, I can absolutely see the appeal of this place. Love that they do delivery. I'd be curious to see what it's like to dine in! Check them out if you're looking for something outside of pizza for delivery in the Woodlawn neighborhood. :)

Modest little nook in Plaza, from the unique ceiling cutout, live greenery, stone tile entry way, corner shelf w/books to the framed pictures displaying thr Story of Cedars. Staff was so friendly, and table was immediately cleaned off so I had no wait experience. Christy was so friendly and patient while I was deciding what to order, since everything looked so good. I decided on the Chicken Shawarma Platter which was served with rice, cauliflower/green peppers/onion medley and flour tortilla. The serving was a generous portion, the Sharma was flavorful and topped with a tangy sauce. Had started the meal with the Sudki Hummus, which was a great start. The Hummus was creamy, topped with pine nuts giving contrast of texture which was a highlight. My friends ordered The falafel wrap : Wrap was tasty and spicy sauce enhanced the flavor. Arab Swag Tacos: Amazing collection of flavors, generously served, with rice and spicy sauce. As if the food and customer service wasn't enough, we topped off our evening with a fundraiser Comedy Show. The talent was great and looking forward to next month show, and will definitely try the lamb barbacoa tacos 🌮

I must have come on a bad night because this was a waste of my money. Don't think I'll be returning. I paid wayyyy too much for mid, dive food. The fries were old and dry and not at all like the menu photos online. The wings were just hot, no flavor at all. Don't know why warm wings were placed on top of wilted, soggy cheap iceberg lettuce. Very bad idea. The wrap was just ok, but too small and not worth the price in comparison to other places that offer the same thing. I just feel like if you are going to serve the same dive food that I can get anywhere in Chicago, at least make it worth the high prices you charge. Otherwise, I can go to several other Chicago spots and save money, get a larger portion and/or truly enjoy the flavor of my food. 2 stars because the two young ladies up front had great customer service. That is always appreciated.

Came with some guest to have some Cedars Mediterranean Kitchen for lunch. Was craving the lunch special and lentil soup, Cedar Style. Always fresh, always consistent in the flavors, from the garlic whipped spread, the delicious lentil soup, to the fresh humus, to Masala chicken always moist, flavorful, to the crispy Mediterranean mixed green salad with feta cheese. Come support Cedars, awesome food highly recommend it

The experience is more cafeteria than sit-down than my last visit some years ago, but that wasn’t a big deal to me. What got me was the quality of the food. I had a taste for falafel and grabbed some Harissa wings.

I was a little irritated that they were wingettes but cost what everyone else charges for whole wings. Then, they turned out to be hard. Not the skin, but the actual meat. Like they’d been coated while wet, or cooked without thawing. The wings were also unseasoned except for the sauce, which is tasty, but strikes me as no more than an elevated buffalo sauce.

Then, there was the falafel. Chile. I knew when they weren’t golden brown, but nearly black, they wouldn’t be right. The outside wasn’t crispy, or even chewy, which I could’ve dealt with, but it was scrape-the-roof-of-your-mouth hard. The inside wasn’t moist, but mealy, and fell out of the crust as soon as it was broken open. They sat in a pool of sauce that I found too citric for my liking.

I suspect it’ll be years again before my next visit. It’s a huge disappointment that the best part of my meal from a Mediterranean restaurant is the french fries. I did give an additional star for the staff, who were friendly, hardworking,...
