The sushi is great but the jambalaya was awful this time. It's suppose to be spicy with chicken, shrimp, okra, and turkey andouille sausage. I've had this before and it was great! This time however it was not spicy, no shrimp, no sausage, a little okra, and mostly chicken and celery. The reason I'm leaving this poor review is because of the attitude of one employee named D.J. His attitude could be described as lackadaisical at best and apathetic at worst. I get there can be "bad batches", but at least D.J could of asked "How can I help you?"It feels D.J was personally offended that I called out the bad batch like he knew it was bad. His blaming of the ladle offended me the most and him giving me the okay to leave this review is why you're reading right now. TBH, everyone else is very nice and helpful so still order sushi just watch your soup orders and watch out for...
Read moreCame to Hyde Park with the fam, looking for a decent place, and came across this restaurant. My first impression was this place was clean, airy, and had a chill vibe. The food wasn't great- A 15 piece combo was about $32 and it was quite bland looking. The nigiri rice fell apart the moment we wet it with soy sauce and the fish was very thin. It was 9 pieces of nigiri and 6 pieces of the roll. The 3 Tacos were flavorless. The meat wasn't seasoned much and the salsa and tomato didn't help either. The pizza was ok, the crust was very thin and crispy, which the children liked. It looked like a cracker because it was so thin but some people like it, I suppose. The servers were nice but we had to ask for things a few times, which I think should be common when you serve food. I wouldn't go back for...
Read moreCute little Cafe. Was looking for a place that had a gluten free menu while visiting. Server was friendly and knowledgeable and reassured me that they had a seperate prep area and cooked gluten free food on a seperate grill. I ordered the steak sandwich and fruit cup. Little pricey for a sandwich that was more veggie than meat. Fruit had a funny taste to it, maybe because it was out of season. Husband ordered regular steak sandwich as well, it was in a pita. He liked it. Daughter ordered chicken club and thought it was very good. They also gave gluten free dessert. I did not indulge in dessert. Overall, not a bad place to eat. If in Chicago again I would definitely stop in. I have Celiac and did not get sick from eating here, so...
