The Slab Bar-B-Que — Restaurant in Hyde Park Township

I hate doing things like this, especially when it comes to black businesses. This was the THIRD time this place has messed up an order of mine, and I ALWAYS show leniency simply because it’s black owned, but at this point the leniency has been taken for granted. I placed an order for 4 wings, with salt pepper, and mild on the side, also a turkey link and some greens (only got greens because the yams were a 30 min wait). They wrap the stuff up really good so when I get home I unwrap it to see sauce all over the chicken. I call and take it back, and they wanted to go back and forth about a refund, insisting that they can remake the chicken, while the other food gets cold for me to take home to warm up. “We usually don’t do refunds” said the tall guy at the counter… CLEARLY they usually don’t get orders right either because I’m fed up. Walking in the rain there and back to not be accommodated was not cool. Didn’t offer me a pop, a sample yams that I originally wanted, only to wait for another order. I think not. Took my money and dipped. Never again. It be your own people… I honestly feel like the 2 star rating is me being too nice I’m 100% dissatisfied. BRB going to warm up my hot...

I only order because my husband and I saw that it was new in the area and they were also listed on uber eats. Had know idea they were on channel 7. Why did channel 7 air them anyways??? Anywho...I did read all reviews and it seems like most liked it. I must say I agree with everyone that said it was not good. Not enough meat the fries are fresh cut so when you cook them of course there not going to be your ordinary crispy fries. Then they take their barbeque sauce and drown them which is not helpful. I order 2 tip wing link combo and tip wing combo. 1st off I only got 1 tip wing link combo. That upset me because now everyone is eating except for 1 person. I tried to call but went to straight to VM 3 times. Way to go on customer service. The sauce is mediocre and the tips do not taste like they been smoked. More like baked. The chicken inside was mediocre as well. Overall they get a 1 and I will never order again. If you are person that doesn't know much about Chicago barbecue this place is for you. I came here on a whim after wanting bbq (but wanting a more healthy option outside of pork and i do eat pork) and reading reviews. Let's just say the turkey tips are AMAZING. The chicken wings were just ok, but it could be because they didn't stay crispy. I also tried the spaghetti, greens, Mac n cheese, and baked beans. The baked beans and spaghetti were pretty good. The greens and Mac n cheese needed more seasoning but hey I didn't expect to like everything. Oh the turkey link was tasty and texture was great also. The fries are fresh cut.

I have to go back because they were out of every cake. I really want to try the rum cake and I think it was bourbon and butter cake. Overall I will definitely be back.

Prices were decent too. I tried a lot and spent $50 and was able to feed a few ppl. Never noticed this place and we go to Italian Fiesta all the time...
