We were greeted and seated immediately and the host was friendly. The place is very clean and it was obvious that everyone working there was courteous, respectful and happy!
Our waitress was awesome! She was very helpful with the menu. I inquired about the broiled fish topped with gumbo. I was concerned about it having a fishy taste. She assured me it did not. She stated that okra and tomatoes was in their gumbo and it was served over rice. My husband ordered fried fish.
My broiled fish entree was awesome!!! It came with white beans, a baked potatoe and the salad bar. We are from Louisiana and accustomed to our food being seasoned. This did not disappoint! My husband enjoyed his fried fish too.
While we were sitting there, the waiter and waitresses were all busy taking care of their customers! I observed other staff replenishing the salad bar, wiping off around it and consistently cleaning up.
The manager (I believe), George, came by our table and was very cordial. We spoke about their Shreveport/Bossier and Monroe locations. He shared a few stories with us regarding the founder, Mr. Beard, and spoke highly about him. (Heās passed.) He told us that he had been with this company since he was a young teenager.
I highly recommend this location for your...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreWe visited David Beard's Catfish, Seafood and Steak House while in the area over the weekend. We had been here in year's past and it was good. This time, not so much. Our server acted as if she was miffed because we sat in her area. I ordered the steak and shrimp and my guest ordered the fish. The fish was so overcooked that I thought it was chicken. My steak was swimming in a huge amount of what tasted like a soy sauce and Worcestershire mix. I requested cocktail sauce for my shrimp and was looked at like I had 3 heads. She finally said, "ya," and proceeded to pick up a broom to sweep under the same table three times while we were sitting there. I had to get my cocktail sauce from another server who was eager to help. My guest noticed a display of cookies near the register so we asked our server if we could get one. She was so upset that we wanted a cookie, that she put it in a stirofoam container and tossed it on the table on her way to - I can only presume pick up the broom to start sweeping again. If you want a good steak while in the area, drive the 10 miles or so to Broken Bow. It will be well...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIf you love carbs and fried foods, THIS is the place for you. They serve potato & bread with everything. They do have a small salad bar, but that's it for low carb. The pinto beans are good and the coleslaw isn't bad either. I hate getting the baked catfish ( it does come with rice, potatoes and toast) because if you ask to leave the carbs off, you still have to pay full price for one delicious piece of fish and a salad. That just kills me. I wish they would have some low carb options or charge me according to what I actually get. Oh, my husband loves the chicken fried steak and shrimp is good also. The fish is good too. But 3 pieces are just enough to tick me off. You better get the larger or all you can eat. It's more expensive but dang good. The waitresses that have been there a long time are great. I just wish they would change it up a bit or add low carb options. ie, broccoli, green beans,...
