Augustino's Rock and Roll Deli and Grill — Restaurant in Illinois

I don't think I need to actually review the food here. Surely everyone in the area already knows that Augustino's sandwiches are gloriously good and should be enjoyed at every opportunity. If you don't know, you should avail yourself of one at once and to onct. Instead, I'll review how they're dealing with covid.

From what I saw, they're doing really well with the call-in and pick-up. We called our order in while on the road after a socially distanced visit with a family member in a care facility, the day before Christmas Eve. When we got there fifteen minutes later, our order was ready, done exactly as we asked, nothing wrong or missing, and the food just as hot and tasty as one would expect from Augustino's.

When we were there, veryone in the restaurant - both employees and customers - were not only masked, but masked properly: No random noses hanging out.

Don't know if it was the owner or the shift manager that was working on 2/19/23 was having a bad day or what, but if I was any kid working there I would not want to work for that man. The sandwich I ordered was not made correctly. I took it back, no big deal, I wasn't mad. Maybe the employee making the sandwich misunderstood the order or the staff member didn't understand me when I said I wanted my sandwich made like the Italian, but with turkey meat only. He repeated it back to me that way as well. The manager called the kid over and berated him in front of me, asked him if he repeated the order back, he had, and then the grouch proceeded to give the employee a dirty look, give me a dirty look and made sure everyone saw him throw the sandwich in the trash in disgust. And you wonder why these places are having such a hard time keeping employees or getting kids to work there. I would have walked out if I was treated that way. The food is good and so are their Italian ices but when it comes to customer service its poop in in better terms. Im Hispanic and my boyfriend is African american every time we go here the Hispanic workers which is just about everyone except for a few who they have as cashiers give him the ugliest of looks. We like selective items here but it's gotten to the point where i just go in myself to avoid all that. One day we went in last month and the cashier specifically said a certain order came with fires which it did not. We only ordered it because it seemed like the better deal. When we got the order without the fries i polity went to the counter to ask why we got just a burger and no fries. The manager came up and the cashier lied. I work in guest services you never lie to try and cover your behind especially when it was a miscommunication on your side. We wind up paying for fries but neither the manager or cashier...
