El Nopal, Floyds Knobs, IN — Restaurant in Indiana

Good food, awful service. Diner beware. Family of 5. Ordering was painful for those of us that didn't want it exactly as the menu said. Server didn't understand enough English. All orders came out mostly correct except my daughter's. She ordered plain burrito with fries. They brought burrito with red sauce and rice. Sent burrito back and got it corrected. When delivered she asked about fries. The waitress said you have rice. I said she ordered fries. The waitress then left and we assumed she was bringing fries. Everyone else finished eating. My daughter who had to wait on the corrected burrito finally finished. She decided to try some of the now cold rice since she was hungry and didn't have fries. She ate about half. We hadn't seen the server since she left to get fries we thought. So we waited and she finally showed with the bill and no fries. I questioned the extra charge for the fries we didn't get. They argued with me about the fact she ate some of the rice. After trying several times to explain we didn't want rice and only ate it because the fries never came, I realized that I was wasting my time with people that don't understand customer service and told them if I have to pay the $3 for a side of rice I wouldn't be returning to eat there again. They decided they were right and didn't want my future business. I failed to mention the dirty bowl they brought for salsa and the plastic in my wife's chimi.And we didn't get any drink refills since the waitress was so poor. We love el nopal and frequent different locations often. We have had poor service at some before but this was awful. We recommend the state street location...

The first time I ate at this restaurant it was horrible, that was quite some time ago. But my aunt convinced me to go as it was late and the only thing really open, I figured I would give it a second chance. I ordered the Monica platter, first there was barely any rice on the plate, a lot of chicken scraps and 3 or 4 shrimp, the first shrimp I bit into was so hard and crunchy I thought the tail was on it. I found another shrimp, examined it for a shell and tried it and it tasted horrible, hard and chewy (it was like shrimp that has been sitting out all day and started to go bad) I asked my aunt to try it to see if it was just me, she couldn't chew it and also said the taste was horrible. I took maybe 3 bites off the entire plate and pushed it aside. When the waiter came by we informed him of the issue, he acted like he didn't understand, walked away for a minute then came back and said when you go to pay tell the manager and he will take care of it. When we went to pay, the manager argued, he said no one else has complained about the shrimp all day. Like he really argued that nothing was wrong with the shrimp. He eventually took it "off the bill", but then didn't give my aunt the correct change back. So basically he said he was going to correct the bill but then didn't. My aunt loves this restaurant but from the manager arguing about the food, and then keeping her money, she will not be returning, and this was 2/2 for me with a bad experience there, so I definitely won't be returning. I ordered a burrito deluxe opened when I got home it was burrito soup that's not what I ordered and this isn't the first time el nopal is dropping the ball what a shame and these are fact Well went back on 4/7/2025 figured I would give another chance ordered carnita dinner to go with extra hot sauce and told them to keep the tortilla chips got order in good time got home well there was no flour tortilla shells and 3 containers of salsa and 1 hot sauce that's not what I ordered so I call to complain the guy answers phone he could barely speak English so I told him I wanted to talk to manager he puts on a woman on phone she spoke less English I said I want to talk to a manager that understands English better she hands phone to another male employee I started to explain situation he come back and get I live 15 miles from that restaurant and he hung the phone up on me we don't have a problem with these people coming here but when they start taking advantage of the English speaking public by acting like they don't understand that is disrespect for this English speaking residents when I paid my bill they understood that and when I did they charged me for extra hot sauce and the flour tortillas so they ripped me off if no response than I will contact...
