How is it that I have lived in Indy for three years, written copious reviews (for restaurants on Yelp and beers on Untappd) yet not written anything for one of my top breweries, hell, my top businesses in general, in the midwest??!! I should add a disclaimer; I rarely hang out at Bier. I like the people and the atmosphere, but the beer is just too good, and I'm afraid said delicious beer will cause me to drive back home drunk! So, I nearly always get growlers, bullets, and/or cans to go. The mix-and-match cans option is a huge plus because, like Central State and some other local breweries, Bier is good at having a mix of house favorites and new experimental beers in cans at any given time. Standouts include PDG (a perfect pale ale), their ESB (which is unfortunately getting harder and harder to get since it is so coveted), Sabbath (a black Kolsch), last year's Marzen (the best canned Marzen on the planet), their legendary pumpkin ale (the best I've ever had), and a variety of other Belgian-style ales (they don't do exclusively Belgians, I just happen to like Bier's take on Belgians). I haven't even had their most famous beer, Sanitarium, but that's partially because I don't like boozy, barrel-aged beers (and also because it sells out so fast). This is one of the best breweries in Indiana, and likely the whole midwest. No flights, but they'll let you taste until you find something you like (which won't take long if you are a beer lover). They are also really active in the community and do countless fundraisers. I'm down to my last month in Indy, and this will be one of the places I miss the most!
PS: Little known fact: their 2015 (or perhaps 2016) biere de guarde (a French style ale) is in my top three beers of all time,...
Read moreBier is one of my favorite places in Indy. The staff is AMAZING!! The brewery goes out of its way to be accommodating to all, as well as welcoming. It is dog friendly, and as such only has snacks. There are food trucks during the pleasant weather, they welcome outside food, and Moveable Feast is right across if you visit before they close.
I also have to say, the beer is absolutely off the charts. They are all winners. The care and concern dedicated to making outstanding drafts in so many styles is legit. Growlers, bullets, sixers, and mix 6s available. Tuesdays are $8 SELECT growlers, Wednesdays are $4 draft, Thursdays Euchre. Their social media is always on point...
Read moreI am NOT a beer drinker and I usually stay away from breweries like this because of uncomfortable seating (I'm a BIG girl)... WELL, I really LIKE this place! (Though I have a terrible headache, I'm just not use to beer) 🍻 Bier is very cozy, very relaxed atmosphere. I understand totally why this is a favorite local spot! Only single bathrooms that are right in the seating area, but very clean. The decor of the place is award winning medals and trophies 🏆I will definitely spread the word and I look forward to another...
