I thought this place was great! Now, truth be told... I did go on a Wednesday around 6:30 and I'm pretty sure Butler students are already on Summer break, but there was PLENTY of seating and the service couldn't have been better. The hostess was friendly, honest and flexible. The bartender was super quick to greet me, and, although he didn't give much feedback about the St. Joe's beers on tap that I had no clue about, he did instantly allow me to try a couple of the beers to choose from without me even asking, and served me as fast as fast could be. The Kolsch was great, the Hefeweizen was good but a bit hoppy (for those who care... Prost!). Tons of indoor AND outdoor seating in the shade at that point in the day. The only negative if I had to be picky might be the bathroom, which essentially reflected what I thought the whole place would be like... a college bar. Other than that... I definitely plan on going back! Went back… DO NOT expect much from Chelsea if she’s your waitress. She doesn’t listen and disappears for long periods of time without reason. Not impressed, or excited to tip at this point… 😒

We had a lovely evening at Chatham Tap Butler. The food and drinks were okay, but the Portobello Fries were a hit with our group—crispy, flavorful, and a fun twist on pub fare. The description of the restaurant and the atmosphere gave off British pub vibes with its logo and decor, which set certain expectations. However, the menu and service leaned more toward American gastropub than traditional British. My wife ordered the Fish and Chips, a house special, and our server helpfully clarified that the "chips" were seasoned fries, but they had american chips. She opted for sweet potato fries instead, which were tasty. I was hoping for authentic English-style chips—thick-cut, soft-centered fries—but when I asked, our server wasn’t familiar with that style and explained their chips were house-made potato chips. Not a dealbreaker, just a mismatch between expectation and reality. Overall, the food was enjoyable, the staff was friendly, and the vibe was relaxed. Just don’t go in expecting a full-on British pub experience. Still, a good spot for a casual dinner with friends.

Came here on a busy night before a show but didn't take too long to get seated although a ton of people showed up right after us. Server was very very nice but clearly pretty busy. But no complaints on service. Everyone was friendly! Fish and chips is a pass. When we got it it was not crunchy (soggy) but the fries were good! Fried pickles were ok, the sauce on the side is nice with a little spice. Tenderloin sandwich was just ok, not a ton of flavor and since we got it breaded it was just too much bread. Our friends liked their soft pretzels (especially the cinnamon sugar dip). And the buffalo dip was pretty good as well. This is a solid space before a show as it's super convenient and beer prices are pretty good as well. Likely to come back but will not get fish n chips or tenderloin sandwich. I'd say the food over all was a 3 but service was great so rounded up. I'd give it another try with different food items ☺️

Last night, we went before a play. It was busy, and we realized after waiting a long time for a table that we should just order food to go. We went to their website to order and placed the order. (They use Doordash as their way of ordering, via their restaurant website) I went to the hostess and said she could take me off the list since I placed an order. She told me that order wouldn’t be fulfilled since the manager just told her all orders will be cancelled since they were full. I stated the order already went through and she assured me that it wouldn’t go through. So we ended up staying on the list and had an app that would come out fast. (The menu stated it was 3 soft pretzels—that’s not what came out. It was pretzel bites that were quite possibly the worst pretzel bites out there) AN HOUR after I had placed the order and we were no longer at the restaurant, I get an email that the restaurant was processing my food order. Knowing the process, that means that the restaurant decided to process an hour later even though they said they wouldn’t. My husband called and the manager said they never told anyone they weren’t fulfilling orders. The manager on the phone said they never stopped fulfilling orders last night. So someone is lying. Regardless, they told us to go to Doordash to get our money. What a pain. Well, Doordash isn’t helping either. I am disputing the charge and will never be back to this poorly run place. Do not decide to go here prior to an event. They can’t handle a normal busy weekend day. I’m not sure why the response says now that they indeed stopped accepting orders when last night’s manager on the phone said they never stopped accepting orders. The hostess didn’t ask who we ordered through. So although you’re staying that it was a Doordash issue, ultimately the staff at the restaurant in person and on the phone didn’t have the correct info for the customer and that is the restaurant’s issue. That is the frustrating part and I had to jump through hoops to resolve. If you go to google on this restaurant, there is no order from the restaurant option. Only third parties. I will get my money back from Doordash, now that I called them about denying my refund and saying I’ll dispute- they quickly...

Terrible experience. Dined here mid day on a Sunday; party of four. Diners at maybe 6 tables when we arrived around 3:30; waited 10 minutes at host table to be seated. Of the 2 staff members present, no one acknowledged our presence. Line started to build up behind us. Walked to the bar to ask if we should seat ourselves and was snarking told “no, there’s a sign that says wait for host”. Responded that we saw the sign but there’s no host present and was greeted with a very sarcastic look and response of “Thank you?” Few minutes later, bartender came over to seat us, threw menus on the table before we could sit and walked away; she never said a word to us beyond “how many?” Waiter eventually came by, was very pleasant, ordered food and drinks. Waited at least 30 minutes for food. Still only about 6 tables occupied. A member of our party arrived late (wait staff was informed this would be the case) and ordered a pizza; after about 30 more minutes, we inquired on the order status and were told it was burned so kitchen is remaking it. Pizza arrived about 20 minutes later but it was the wrong pizza; sent it back only for the wrong order to show up again 20 minutes later. Honestly one of the worst service experiences we have had in a long time. Rude staff, long wait, wrong order (twice!). I understand being short staffed but there was absolutely no apologies or attempt to communicate with us as patrons. For the $ spent, this was very disappointing. We will not be back until...

Our food was good but our server was AWFUL and the restraunt is one of those lovely places that has a preset minimum of 25% on the tips. Which, was super frustrating. We arrived at 8:30 to eat and ordered a salmon sandwhich and wings. Both were delicious. But our server never checked on us for drink refills. Then when she finally came back, we ordered the chocolate cake. She came back with out check without the cake on it, we asked for the cake and told her we wanted to make sure it was included on our tab. She pretended like she forgot and said she would bring it. At 9:43 (about 15 mins before close) She brought us a to go box and our check then stood and waited for us to pay. Still no refills on drinks. And then proceeded to do the awkward tip me well as I stare at you thing. When she left, we were a little frustrated because it was in a to go box when we didn't order it to go. But we figured we were splitting it and could just eat it quickly and then go. When we opened it we found that our chocolate cake was completely frozen. Essentially she gave us a frozen to go cake as a get the ef out. Not only was it terrible service but we felt forced to tip insanely high too. Needless to say, we will just be going to a different place after shows at Clowes from now on. Unnecessarily rude service....
