Egg Roll King on Madison Ave. — Restaurant in Indianapolis

First time ordering from Egg Roll King (via Door Dash). The delivery was on time & arrived as requested. I’ve heard about their popular chicken fried rice, and it was very good indeed. I was 💯% disappointed in the egg rolls & definitely every review I read stated they were the best dumplings and egg rolls in town. Wrong!! The dumplings were as tasteless as the ones China Wok switched too a couple years ago... where’s the pork & soft dough? These were scrunched up dough & a whitish, shriveled looking piece of protein inside... definitely looked more like chicken than pork for sure. China Dragon (can’t wait til they reopen) are where to find the best dumplings ~ made the way they're supposed to be made! The egg rolls were nothing to write home about either! They were overcooked & I’ve had much better...even the frozen ones from ALDI are better! If you want a really, really gr8 egg roll...get one from...

I ordered the sweet and sour chicken combination plate with some lo mein on the side. It came with egg drop soup and a veggie egg roll. First off, all of the food was cold when I got it but cold like it had been in a warmer for a while before I got it. The egg drop soup honestly tasted rotten, it had TOO much flavor and definitely not in a good way. The egg roll was just not good compared to the other restaurants in the area. And last but not least, the chicken was dry and unusually crispy. The food all had a strange, almost "Burger King" style grilled taste to it... Not what I want from my Chinese food. Maybe it was just a little burnt? Lo mein was good but it definitely didn't save the rest of the meal. Sorry to say I'm overall disappointed with this restaurant and will not be going back considering there are so many good options...

I used to eat here all the time and had been going there for many years and the food was good. I moved to the other side of town so I hadn't been there in a few years so since I was in the area I decided to go back, that was a huge mistake . It has new owners and the food is terrible. The sauce was very salty and the egg roll was so greasy. I placed it on a napkin to soak up some grease and the napkin was soaked through 4 layers. When I picked it up and took a bite it squirted oil out of the end. They have the 3 compartment styrofoam plates and I squeezed the egg roll and filled the small compartment with at least 1/8" of oil. I had to hurry back home and barely made it to the bathroom with explosive diarrhea .The prices are also double what they used to be with smaller portions. I will...
