Although I normally have nothing but good things to say about this place. The food is amazing however, the experience that I had today is now going to have me no longer returning to this establishment. So I attempted to place an online order an hour before closing.Yes, I understand it is Mother's Day.However my son decided to buy my self and my mother dinner. After twenty minutes of attempting to order through two different sites online with no success. I finally called the restaurant. I called the restaurant at 528pm was on Hold for 3 minutes before someone picked up now. At this time, it is 531 I was advised that i could not place a to go order over the phone after 5:30 due to a being 30 minutes before closing. I did make the lady aware that I had been on hold prior to 530. That didn't matter. She told me that I would need to step in to place an order. I advised her that if my son came up there now he would be there 10 minutes before closing and I asked If he would still be able to place the order? She stated yes, I said okay. I'm sending him up there to place the order. My son arrived there 10 minutes before closing. And was advise that it was too late for him to place an order. Due to them closing in 10 minutes. He calls me from the parking lot. So I called the restaurant the same lady answered and I asked her. Why would you tell me he can come up there? Just for him to be turned away. She apologized and said I'm not sure who did it, but tell him to step in and he can notify me when he's in the restaurant who turned him away cause he made it in before 6 o'clock, so he should be able to place the order. So my son attempts to go back in at this point. It is now 6 o'clock. The door is locked and he is told that it is too late for him to place an order. I of course left a voicemail on their phones. Because now nobody is picking up. I did receive a return call from the manager who apologized for the inconvenience in who stated that it was a misunderstanding because she was not made aware that he was approved to come in and make a to go order. And was offered a $25 gift card, again It's Mother's Day does us no good because now. Although my mom wanted Texas Roadhouse, which at the time as I stated, the food and his place eatery was better than Texas Roadhouse. So we selected them now. We have to wait 2 hours in order to get anything from Texas Roadhouse. Absolutely Disappointed in the customer service and a $25 gift card does not make up for the fact that I plan on not returning. I spend my money only where I am treated correctly. So now I will look for another soul food restaurant on the East Side of town Because I do not plan to return there for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI tried this place about 10 years ago, and I remember it being good, I also remember my DH enjoying it as well, so I am unsure why I never visited again. I was on Facebook yesterday and I saw a video of a guy from Miami that travels across the country the black owned restaurants and he made us pit stop in Indianapolis and tried a few places in the Midwest. Everything that he tried at His Place made me want to try everything at His Place so I wasted no time. Today I made up in my mind that my family and I would be going back once our children were out of school and that is exactly what we did. I can promise my brother it was about a 20 minute drive from where I live during rush hour. We were immediately greeted as we were still pulling on the door to get inside, that was pretty cool. There was no wait time to be seated, Our waitress name was Mika, very polite and attentive, she was spot on, immediately my 15yo said customer service is a 10. My family started with drinks, I had a water, my daughter had fruit punch, my husband had lemonade and my son had sweet tea which must have been "Southern" sweet. It didn't take long for us to know what we wanted to order because I had just studied the video from the day prior. Since I had my wisdom teeth extracted I could not go berserk but I knew that I could Chow down on some soft sides. I went ahead and had the deconstructed chicken pot pie, it did not come with sides so I ordered green beans, and dressing not to be confused with stuffing, lol. I enjoyed the green beans, the dressing had a little more sage than I typically would enjoy however I ordered gravy on the side and together they were perfect. I forgot to photograph my deconstructed chicken pot pie, it was literally a piece of fried chicken with a separate puff pastry and the filling but not all together if that makes sense. Very yummy though. My husband had the collard greens grilled cheese with candy yams and potato salad, all three were yummy, oh my word! Surprisingly yummy! My daughter had chicken and waffles it was chicken and waffles, the chicken was seasoned well, she had a side of french fries and macaroni and cheese. The macaroni and cheese for okay but I like a little more seasoning to my but it's perfect for a kid and the fries were nice, hot and crunchy. My son had the double steakhouse cheeseburger with fries, and that was one good darn burger! I have nothing bad to say about this place! My entire family enjoyed it wholeheartedly and my children even said that they were shocked that I did not have one complaint. My daughter has picked it as the place to go for her birthday. I plan on visiting way...
