Tacos Maela — Restaurant in Indianapolis

ETA 5/13/21: They now have horchata, tamales and chicharron tacos on Tues and Thurs! Just got them myself today and the tamales are wonderful! This was my first experience with a chicharron taco but they are spicy, saucy and delicious. Again I say, EAT HERE!

This is a wonderful little taco truck! I have been here multiple times and the portions are plentiful, flavors are amazing and authentic. They have a surprising selection of meats and dishes considering they are just one small truck! You can get nachos, tamales, elotes, gorditas, sopes, tacos, burritos, tortas, chimichangas, all made with your choice of a huge selection of meats (I recommend the al pastor and the lengua. Both are heavenly). On the weekends, they also have some incredible birria de res, a type of brothy beef soup. I think the only thing that could improve this establishment would be having horchata/jamaica as a drink offering.

Let me start by saying that I LOVE Mexican Street Tacos! I've been to several taco trucks and several Mexican restaurants around the city. Some I liked...others I didn't like. I finally got a chance to try Tacos Maela last night and I must say that these are THE BEST tacos I've ever had. Absolutely delicious! And they have great customer service too. While upon MUch further investigation you realize this destination isn't a destination, rather a food truck. For the love of Jesus, change your hours to accurately reflect the amount of time you'll be at the destination. Love food trucks, but only because they skip the typical restaurant experience and can show what a lower budget can do with food; but don't say you're open 9 hours longer than you ever...
