When this place first opened it was good now it has gone downhill. The food for us is still good but sometimes it's hit or miss if your food will come out hot, warm, or cold and if it will come out even what you ordered. Their salads use to be nicer now they are just thrown together and not anything in it much like tomato, onion, etc. They are declining in customer service dramatically. Our recent experience yes the food was hot and good however as soon as we first arrived there was no one to greet us and every bit of help was scattered all over the place. There was a young server right in front of the desk where the register is with her back turned away from the front door hunched over counting her tips in front of public. My mother use to be a server and she told me they never counted the tips in public. It is considered disrespectful and rude. There seems to be absolutely no management there. The server that did sit us dropped a set of silverwear that was wrapped in a napkin and instead of taking that set to the back kitchen to get washed she just wiped it on her pants and laid it on our table. We were given 3 sets of silverware so it was no telling which one was the one that dropped and wiped on her pants. Underneath the table we were sitting at it was filthy. Food all over the place. The servers have no real knowledge of the menu nor the soups of the day. The salad was subpar but was good. We were on a budget that day and we went there thinking that would save us money. No one tells you they automatically tack onto your bill their tipping. So I strongly feel we were robbed of our money. I understand some places are automatically tipping in their bills but they usually tell you with a heads up sort of thing but this place didn't. Now I understand because a lot of people don't tip that certain resturaunts are automatically tipping but this is not an upscale place. It's a diner. I was raised if you are a good server you earn your tip. And when I do have the money I do tip big. However when an diner chooses to steal my money and not give me the choice to tip that's it I'm done with them. You have no right stealing my money for the whole week. In conclusion I will not go to that place again. Not unless they stop stealing my money, get better customer service, gain knowledge of the restaurant business etiquette, and obey health code. All in all my experience there was terrible and disgusting. I most certainly didn't feel welcomed. Nor that our money was properly accepted. Again until they change I am not returning. Hope your 9% tip of stealing your customers money and experience was worth it.

Read moreIt has been a very long time since I've walked out of a restaurant but this morning it happened. Hotcakes Emporium at 86th and Ditch. If someone hasn't gotten sick there it is a miracle. After being seated at a dirty table the waitress gave us as a "so" look when I asked for the table to be wiped. There was a large piece of sausage which she wiped to the floor and threw the rag back in the dirty buss bin, retrieving it when I asked for the entire table to be wiped. The back of the menu I'd been handed had someone else's breakfast on it. Waitresses bussing tables, putting dirty dishes in the buss bin and then grabbing the coffee pot and creamers to take to a table. No handwashing or sanitizing evident from anyone. The real kicker was watching waitresses eat their own food from from a counter in front of one of the prep tables. What REALLY did it for me was watching one eat a piece of bacon with her fingers, lick her fingers and then stick her hand in the prep table, grabbed something and took it to a table. I was sick to my stomach. Canceled the order and walked out. OMFG, what's wrong with people? Reminiscent of a night at Applebee's across the street when the waitress brought the credit card receipt, took the pen out of her mouth to hand to us and she couldn't figure out what was wrong with that scenario. Read moreI ordered a take out order today and when I got home I opened my food up and there was a piece of hair in my waffle. I’m not crazy and I know that’s not my hair because my hair is black and this piece of hair was white with the tip being brown. I was not going to write a review but when I called the restaurant at 2:55 to tell them about it there was no answer. I understand that you might close at 3:00 but at least answer the phone because there is still 5 minutes left. The first time I called the line went through but once I called two more times it was as if someone disconnected the phones. I work at a restaurant and I have manners, when it’s 9:55 and the restaurant closes at 10:00 my boss still expects us to answer the phone and even if it’s 10:10 even though we are already closed. I just wanted to inform the restaurant to let them know to not repeat this but they did not care on answering my phone calls. The food was not good either and it was lacking presentation.
