The tamales are very inexpensive for their size; tamales would only be okay-tasting without using the excellent hot sauces. The stand-alone quality of the tacos is better, although they're ~50% more expensive. Orders of tamales and tacos should provide around 1 lb (16 ounces) of food in quantity; side orders of rice will probably be slightly under 2 lbs in food. The dining area could be called cozy, but also could be called tiny; ordering as take out is probably often wise. The dining room had a TV with a provided remote, plus a kind of fan; unsure if they use AC much. There's also a small, clean restroom. Service has been efficient and welcoming.

Tamales etc. Never misses the mark! The Shrimp tacos are a household favorite... but only because the fish tacos are not a daily offering. And I respect the logic... they serve the fish tacos when they can get fresh fish and there's a specific fish they use. But we love the burritos, Quesadillas, rice and the Birria tacos too. The service is always good even when taking phone orders. We often have a special orders, and they always ask questions to make sure the food is made just the way we want it. And most importantly... they follow through!

If you're in or near the near-west-side, Tamales Etc. is a cool lil local taco/tamale spot. This place has a modest menu, hittin the basics and keepin the prices reasonable. They're on top of the on-trend menu items like birria tacos with consomme, Hot Cheeto burritos, asada fries, elote (street corn), churros, etc. The service at Tamales Etc. is excellent. The facility is modest, but if you've grown up with a good little taco shop in your neighborhood, you're going to feel right at home.

I had one of their new menu items, the birria pizza. While the meat isnt goat, the consumme` more than makes up for that, with flavor. The crust on the "pizza", is light and crispy. The cheese which tasted like either asadero or a mix of fontina, was creamy. The onions add a good kick to the flavors already brought out by the beef. Yet when you dip the pizza in the consumme...it brings it all together. Def, go stop by and get this. My only gripe would be, the consumme could have been hotter. See, not bad at all. I will be back!! Also, they have a huge menu. Ill think ill be heading back for the locos...
