Tex Mex — Restaurant in Indianapolis

Only giving 5 stars so this review would appear at the top for all to see when in fact they deserve negative stars. Immediately upon first interaction with the owner you feel a sense of being talked down to if you are not of Mexican, Spanish or another similar minority descent. The food is amazing but the treatment of the staff/owner was appalling. I had just a few questions about the menu because unfortunately I am not completely fluent in Spanish and she became extremely argumentative and rude when responding as if I was of inferior intellect and only there to waste her time. She continued to be rude throughout our entire interaction and denied each and every request I had about the preparation or presentation of the food; even when it was something as simple as getting a particular condiment on the side. I was completely polite and respectful even up to the end when I informed her that because of her treatment I was considering taking my business elsewhere. At this point she yelled to te kitchen to cancel our order and instructed US to leave as though we were somehow in the wrong. In all my visits to restaurants city wide I believe this is the first time that I can honestly say I feel I was treated this way solely because I was white and not of Latino/Indian/minority descent. The girl at the counter was rude ! We wanted to order 4 steak tacos @ 1.99 each and 4 pollo 1.99 each but we did not want avocado on the steak because my husdand is allergic. We asked to put the slices on the side so i can put it on my chicken that do not come with it ans o love avacado but she refused and wanted to charge me extra for avavado to put my chicken. Why? When it comes already on the steak taco and my husdand cant eat it . Any how I told her I would not do that because it was silly to pay for something we could not tailor to our own taste , not only that but i will not paying extra or more just to trash the avacado my husdand can't eat . She rudely told us that it was just the way they do it . I asked if she must be that rude she said i don't have to serve you ! So we made it easy and left. Mind you we live across the street from this place and it was our fist time in the establishment . We are so cali natives we love our mexican food but these guys will never...

I started off going up to speak to the cashier to give them a great compliment, been eating there almost 10 years. This time our food was different than ever before. We know, we drove from the opposite side of town to eat here! My man was new to authentic food until me. He's been to taco bell and mi amigos ect. :-) There was just an off flavor to the meat on my torta de asada. For the first time EVER they put sauteed onions on his taco de asada. They have always been diced raw onion and cilantro. I went to see if there were different cooks, maybe hey, i just wont come on this day. Boils down to Owner telling me i have them confussed with somewhere else. They have always been that way. I drove ACROSS town to come here, no confusion.
