The Cardi Rose latté here is the best and so are their beans, which I always have to take home!

During a recent trip back to my hometown of Inglewood, CA, I was delighted to stumble upon Sip & Sonder, a charming and cozy coffee shop in the heart of downtown. As a black-owned business, it felt special to support a local establishment contributing positively to the community. From the moment I walked in, the ambiance of Sip & Sonder enveloped me in warmth and comfort. The shop has a uniquely inviting atmosphere, with decor that makes it the perfect spot for both relaxation and productivity. What really stood out was their excellent taste in music, creating a background ambiance that was both energizing and soothing. The highlight of my visit was undoubtedly the caramel latte. It was expertly crafted, with the perfect balance of rich coffee and sweet caramel, making every sip a delightful experience. Alongside the latte, I indulged in a variety of their baked goods. Each item was a delightful treat, fresh, flavorful, and perfectly satisfying my sweet tooth. Sip & Sonder is not just a coffee shop; it’s a wonderful experience that combines great flavors, a welcoming atmosphere, and a sense of community. It’s a must-visit spot for anyone in or visiting Inglewood, and I look forward to my next visit to enjoy more of their delicious offerings.

Coming from someone who absolutely loves this place, I was rather disgusted and disappointed to see a member of the staff be rather gross on my visit yesterday.

This took place July 11, 2025 between 10:45 and 11:05 am. My complaint is not about the one staff member making up to eight beverages by herself. She was completely patient and kind through it all. I was waiting for my iced coffee near the glass coffee room, facing the barista area and the pick up station. I overheard that the second barista was on her morning walk but should be back soon. About, perhaps, ten minutes later, a woman dressed in all black and a bandana covering her braids/twists walks through the back door typing on her phone. I assume she’s the second barista in conversation as she walked straight from the back door to behind the coffee making area/station and asks the first woman who was working hard at drinks about how busy it was, what she needed, etc. Seemed like positive conversation. Then, the barista with braids/twists then begins to handle customer drinks bare-handed after putting her phone away. Asks about a bagged pastry (muffin) that was an erroneous order. She then grabs the base of the muffin from inside the bag using her hands and places it back in the pastry case. Then, grabs the tongs and organized the pastries. Afterwards, she again fiddles around with customer drinks by picking them up close to the rim of the open cups, then cleans up the pick up station, throws away receipts. After asking if the first barista needed help (I believe I heard the answer no), braids/twists then walks away. In the same time I’m standing there and observing this encounter, I never see braids/twists wash her hands from entering from the back door to walking away from the barista area. The backup in orders I understand and empathize, but the lack of sanitary methods coming from someone who serves customers? Yuck. I absolutely love the coffee and service here. Taking half a minute to clean your hands wouldn’t have slowed...

I kind of got ignored when I walked up to the counter. With good customer service, u easily say, "Be right with you" or even, "hi" ... but when you stand there for a few minutes and they act as if you are not there... well, that can use some work. 2nd disappointment to me was that it said no cash. That drives me nuts. I am cash only.. so I was about to walk out, but the gentleman finally took my order. A girl clocked in and asked to pay me out, but asked if I was cash or credit. So I used cash. I asked if it was credit only, and she said they usually don't keep change, but if I had exact change, it was fine. So I was cool with that. They had enough change to break a 5 after I paid 15 for my 2 drinks and didn't want my change back. But I got to tip, which if I get a service I always do. I'd like to give this place a better review, but sadly, it lacked. Maybe I'll try again. I skipped like 4 Starbucks to try to support the small guy. That's how I roll. So they deserve 3, and hopefully, they will get 5 stars when I...
