Decent motel in the area!
Stayed here after a concert at the SoFi. The walking distance was 1.8 miles to SoFi and 1.2 miles to the Kia Forum, where both of these venues were located next to each other. Took a Lyft (booked in advance) to the venue for $8 and walked back after. There's free parking for patrons. If you need more parking, there is metered parking on the street that typically go from 8am or 9am until 6pm. I think its free Sundays all day. Just read the posted signs.
Check-in was at 2pm and check out by 11am. If you don't check out on time, they will charge you $250. When you check out, there's a drop-off window to drop off your key at the office front entrance.
They give you only 1 key, and they pay signs where they only allow 2 guests per room. They have a lot of cameras outside the motel, which was great for security. Looks like owners live on site since they have one big section on the lot alloted for them. And they have 24-hour service.
The motel room was pretty clean and spacious. It smelled like chlorine when I walked in, which was great. They did a decent job cleaning everything. The floors were incredibly clean! No carpet - they have laminate flooring. They give you minimal items--2 pieces of soap bars, no extra toilet paper (the roll was half used lol! I asked them for a new roll since it was not enough), and 1 pack of shampoo and 1 pack of lotion (I thought it was instant coffee packs at first; they don't have a coffee maker). They placed the latter 2 by the cups and ice buckets instead of by the soap. They have an ice machine and soda machine outside. If you want other things, there's a 7 eleven next door and a lot of food stores close by.
You get 1 set of towels per person and 1 pillow each. There's a table and 2 chairs inside along with 2 nightstands, an older TV with cable, a clothes rack with hangers, and a fridge and microwave. My only complaint was the fridge; it was moldy. I understand they're trying to conserve electricity by unplugging when not in use, but if you unplug the fridge, leave the fridge door open or else mold will grow in there. The AC is old but worked. If they want to conserve electricity, might as well upgrade on the AC units since the newer models conserve more energy.
I stayed in a room for the handicap. They have a ramp for wheelchair and a lot of handrails in the bathroom. The shower head was the free kind from the government or schools. That thing made so much noise like an alarm was going off.
Overall, I wouldn't mind...
Read moreFunky old hotel near LAX. I chose it because the reviews were pretty good and it sounded like it would be a good fit for my needs that night, which were just a safe and reasonably comfortable place to stay.
I checked in late and the woman that handled the check-in was pleasant and quick. The room itself was pretty disappointing, but it wasn't terrible. I travel 250+ days per year as a professional musician, and I am used to staying in economy hotels, but when a room has cigarette burns in the bed spread that says a lot about the level of quality, or lack thereof.
The bathroom was also just very strange. It was very old, but it had been updated with tile and it had one of those "rain" type shower heads, which is usually a good sign. However, the the shower head leaked, and the water that fell from it hit the shower floor and splattered all over the bathroom, which is something that any reasonable hotel would not let stand (it had been that way for a while). It was relatively freshly painted, but overall VERY dated. It actually annoys me when people review cheap rooms and complain about such things, but when I pay $100 for a room, even in LA, in my mind it ought to not have any of these things.
All of that said, the people were nice and the room was OK for a one night stay coming in late from the airport. It was convenient to lots of things, and there was all night fast food nearby, which was a bonus for someone whose flight got in at 1:00 in the morning. If you need a relatively safe place to stay near LAX and you don't mind paying $100 for the room described above then it might...
Read moreHad a severe allergic reaction where emergency services needed to be called. I don't know what or why it happened I've stayed at this place several times walked to the store at the corner no problems. This day was a scary situation I had epi pen but was afraid to administer it myself. When help did arrive they where rude and assuming I was on some kind of other drug and over and over asking if I've taken this and that to the point where I just told one of them to shut the f up and he did and took vitals. They finally administered the epi pen in my thigh that hurt so fng much. After a while my throat began to open up and swelling began to go down. I didn't want to go to the nearest hospital if it wasn't UCLA System. They made me go to some hospital near by with the lights and sirens. I know I had to go somewhere the epi pen was making me twitchy which I didn't know could be a side effect. The hotel was helpful getting help to me asap and always let me know that I don't need a reservation they know who I am. I just travel from up north to LA every month for medical treatment at the UCLA medical facility since where I live in the country on a ranch the closest hospital is a sad joke and by UC Merced which means nothing. I will continue to come back and always on my best behavior. The only thing missing is a security guard at night to give people a sense of safety which you can't get...
