The smell alone will waft to you from 2 miles away. There is something special about small, well-kept establishments in Los Angeles. Fair amount of parking spaces. An outdoor patio with seating and a big window into the magical kitchen allow you to see the food. Bustling behind the counter are hard-working, dedicated folks of the barbecue craft. The interior is wooden seating and a wooden bar. Its elegance and craft is a marvel to behold. Such glorious craftsmanship makes a customer feel disrespectful for eating on such fine woodwork. I ordered a combo plate. Beef ribs, beef brisket, and chicken with two sides. A coleslaw and beans. Steaming hot and fresh even an hour before closing. I ordered mixed sauce. A sensational blend of hot and mild. The food was served to go with a classic, vintage style we call the brown paper bag. The Meats are covered like a caring mothers baby with a hefty blanket of sauce. People often describe "the best bbq" as "fall off the bone" i don't agree. Smoked meats are supposed to be tender and give a little pull on the bone. The chicken was tender and hit all the right marks on a humans taste buds. The brisket was something I would spend the rest of my days eating if I had to choose one meal for the rest of eternity. When I die bury me with the bones of the beef ribs. The slaw was the robin to the meat batman. The beans will make you believe in aliens. This establishment has been around longer than I've been alive and I hope it continues long after I'm gone. God bless the king of...
Read moreSo yea I donât think I will be returning to this establishment, I initially went to the one on Florence but they were close. Didnât know I had order from the one in Inglewood. I order two dinner plates of rib tips, bake beans, potato salad and a hot link sandwich. My son had his plate and he ate his first I didnât eat mines until later but I did eat the hot link sandwich before my son told me he threw up his entire plate.
My hot link sandwich didnât look as I expected it looked pretty sloppy but I was hungry and this was our first time eating here. One of the slices of bread was hard and the other wasnât. My son was very disappointed in his meal because at first he didnât want Bar b q but order it anyway because this place was new to us at least this location. So moving along to my dinner plate despite my son stomach was sitting to well with his plate I finally got home to try mine out and what I discover my rib tips were burnt and hard to chew it seems as the meat was cooked to fast and wasnât appealing at all however the bake beans and the potato salad was decent enough to finish but once those were gone I couldnât continue with meat.
I am so disappointed in this place we had high expectations for this restaurant we did not get the wow factor as everyone has been...
Read moreOct 11, 2018 The sliced beef was so tough I could barely chew it. They gave me two pieces of white bread on the side and called that a sandwich. I was expecting a French roll, especially for meat this tough that you need both hands to hold it. The side of potato salad was one of the worst I've ever had too. And the price $$, well BBQ is always higher priced. I guess I've been spoiled by the best barbecue sandwich restaurant from Compton on Rosecrans and Wilmington. I will never come back to Woody's, even if they offered the food for free or paid me to eat it. I used to come here when it was Satchmo's and they had great food. Sad, because Woody's has such great potential and busy location. If they're going to serve a tough piece of meat, they need to braise it a long time first before smoking it. And come on, a French roll is not that expensive. That is just a reflection of an "I don't care" attitude. You won't get any of mom's TLC at Woody's. The lady helping at the front cutter was very nice but you could tell she knew nothing about the food, she's never been tempted to eat here even once. I give Woody's a year or two and they'll be gone unless there's...
