Haven't been here since it was still called the Great Western Forum. I'm not a fan of stadium shows but NIN is worth it. I managed to score floor seats to the Friday show and opted to take the bus. I learned: CONS -confusing to find the correct entrance but floor seats are on the Manchester side -bag size and check is pretty strict -merch stand in front of the floor entrance needs a better location as the lines block the way -The view from the floor seats are pretty bad even with the screen unless you're closer to the front. Short people, ye have been warned. -Floor seats are pretty narrow and not ideal if you're sitting next to someone broad-shouldered BUT -You'll spend the entire show standing up to try to get a good view anyway. -it can get kinda of warm and muggy so bring a hand fan especially if you run hot. -If you're near the outer end of the rows the spotlights from above will shine pretty brightly on you even during the "dark" moments. -Non alcoholic drinks are around $8, alcohol is $20+ (not including tax or tip) -Exit from the floor is a nightmare with narrow glass doors, halls, and stairwells -leaving the venue has tons of car and foot traffic -AFTER THE SHOW THE MANCHESTER BUS TO THE SILVER/J LINE(910/950) WILL NOT STOP ON KAREEM COURT AND THE LAST ONE PASSES AT 1130PM. There is no notice on Gmaps or sign posted at the stop to warn you so you'll have to walk to Prarie or Briarwood, or catch a taxi/rideshare to the J line.
PROS -Entry is fairly quick and easy once you find the correct gate -the sound system, acoustics, light displays and visuals are top tier. Absolutely PHENOMENAL sound and show. -floor seats are nicely padded -Guest Services offers free foam earplugs upon request -plenty of helpful staff -toilets are clean and have an attendant -they sell food and snacks -Merch table by the bar -easy to arrive and leave on public transportation with easily accessible bus stops. -traffic is fairly well organized and managed -multiple alternative bus routes available to WeHo, Ktown, and DTLA that run after 11pm
I took the Silver/J (910/950) from DTLA to Manchester to Kareem Drive. Only took about 45 minutes. Return trip home near Ktown took about an hour fifteen. Worth it when it meant i could drink without fear of a DUI and the total round-trip cost was $0 due to free fare day (normally $3.50/$1.75 one way).
Overall, i would only come back for a really good band, absolutely buy upper level seats, and likely still take the bus. Giving it 4stars for the sound. The floor...
Read moreI’ve been to the forum twice. The second visit confirmed how horrible a venue it is… The first time we went we saw Alicia Keys. We paid top dollar to get second row seats and the stage set up was such that she only played to our side of the stage for very little time. Clearly it was a way for the venue to make Way more money for inferior seats. In addition, I was singled out and targeted by multiple security people and nearly thrown out for no good reason. 😳🤷♀️ Last night was our second visit to the forum to see Bruce Springsteen. Once again, we bought front row seats. When we arrived at the venue entrance, we were told our seats had been redirected and to go to a different entrance. We went to the entrance we were told to go to which was quite a walk and we were told the same thing to go to a different entrance. This happened three times and we had to walk nearly around the entire forum outside before we finally went to the box office, which had a very long line. I decided not to wait in the line and go to will call. When I got to the window, I was told that our seats were moved because of cameras. When we finally got in our front row seats were completely blocked by four video cameras and camera operators. My husband had to go to the far left of them, and I went to the far right of them so we could see around them to even see the show. In addition, on the last song, some woman made her way into our section who clearly didn’t have a ticket for that section and when my husband got in front of her because he knew she didn’t have seats in our section she told the security guard that my husband pushed her. Coincidentally, I had it all on video. The usher finally kicked her out of our section. However, when we left the forum and we’re nearly halfway to our car, which was a very long walk, two police officers stopped my husband, and said that this same woman was accusing him of assault. Luckily, my husband showed them our front row tickets and told them to look at her tickets and explained what happened and I said I have a video to back it up and they finally let us go. Needless to say, both experiences were very Unsettling to say the least. I told my husband I will never go back to a forum event, regardless of who is performing. It seems like the clientele and the management is...
Read moreI attended the Pearl Jam concert at the Kia Forum, but my experience was ruined by the venue's staff and policies. I was seated in Section 208, Row 26. During the transition between Deep Sea Diver and Pearl Jam (over a 20 - 30 minute period), a staff member gave upgraded seating to EVERYONE in my row, the row behind me and some in front of me, but I was not acknowledged or offered an upgrade. I checked ticketmaster and there were single seats available in my section so I too, could have been upgraded but I was not even spoken to. This left me feeling singled out and excluded.
Additionally (and my biggest issue), this venue is supposedly smoke free but people were smoking weed and cigarettes during the entire show in my section. I had nausea and a headache the whole time and had to leave the area to get fresh air so I missed about an hr of the show altogether. Staff was very dismissive. I sent a message on Instagram immediately and didn't get a response. I spoke to 3 staff (2 kia forum staff and 1 that was not employed by kia but was working the show) and none addressed the issue. one female kia forum staff said "208 isn't my section go find the person in your area" and the other female kia forum staff allowed me to stand in a walkway only to be told by a different worker that I couldn't stay there although it was not in a seating area or obstructing anyones view as I was in the walkway with my back facing the concession stand. The male staff (non kia forum employee) walked with me for 15 minutes because I was not feeling well and needed fresh air. He was the most helpful and did what he could but as he was not employed by kia there was only so much he could do to help me.
It's frustrating that the venue claims to be "smoke-free" yet fails to enforce this policy. Attendees were not properly screened for smoking materials (those like myself, without bags walked right through without being scanned or checked) upon entry and when staff was alerted to people smoking inside the building, nothing was done. As someone with allergies to tobacco and other plants, this was an awful experience, and I received no support in resolving the issue. I was unable to enjoy the show due to these circumstances. The non-Kia staff were kind, but overall, the experience...
