I don’t even know where to begin. We are here for parents weekend. Excited to try a new spot. The restaurant was disorganized. We waited 10 minutes for a booth to be cleaned. It took over 30 minutes for our chips and salsa appetizer to be delivered. The place was not at capacity. All this feels normal for parents weekend. Our daughters food was delivered wrong. The FIRST time we shared with the server who dropped the food that it was wrong- she ordered without meat (she is a vegetarian). The server stated “I am not your server, it’s not my problem and there is nothing I can do”. This was after drink orders were messed up or just not delivered. When the order arrived a second time and was wrong, a second time, we tried to explain to the server the concern, she was kind and wanted to fix it; her coworker, who was rude the first time, rolled her eyes and glared at us. This was after she was complaining about us to other servers. When we shared our concern, we were told our tab was “voided” and told we needed to leave. Not sure who owns the establishment but voiding a $200 tab due to server incompetence seems like a bad business decision to me. As we were leaving, confused, another server we had never seen, yelled at us in front of other patrons and told us we can’t harass the servers and we are never welcome back. Honestly, shocked. Also, if this is how your servers handle themselves in a moderately busy environment, perhaps some support and training would benefit them. The empowerment is working against the business. Read moreIncredibly disappointed overall. We ordered our food and had to check a menu item for a food allergy, our waitress seemed annoyed that we asked her to confirm we could eat it. After that, we waited at least hour for our food, asked our waitress to check on it around 45 minutes and we watched her go to another table and talk to them for 10-15 minutes. Once we did get out food, it was lukewarm and had clearly been sitting out. The food itself really had no flavor, no seasoning on the fries or the tater tots. Our wings were overcooked and tasted bland. The only time our waitress checked in was after we finished eating and even then, she barely stopped to talk to us. As we were waiting for the check, another party was seated at the table next to ours which had not been cleaned from the previous party and THEY cleaned it while their waitress bussed. Once we paid, it was disappointing to see that lunch was almost $50 for two people and an appetizer, all of which was terrible quality and no better than what we could have purchased from Hy-Vee.
I understand game days are busy and it sounded like staff had called out that morning, but that is no excuse for poor service and even worse food. Read moreI gave this place an extra star because the food is good, but I would rather go to Coralville. They have way better service! Tonight I went there at about 8 pm, not busy. The board as I walked in said to seat ourselves so we did. It was clear that the servers saw us come in. We walked by at least one and the others stared at us. We sat down and waited for ten or so minutes while we watched the group of servers talk and do their hair (which I'm sure is against health code) a girl was attempting to clean up a table right next to ours and I asked if someone was going to wait on us. She stared and walked away. Grabbed menus, put them on the table, and with an attitude and disgusted look said someone would be right over. At this point, my friend and I were very put off by the unwelcome attitude of the servers we decided to leave. In which we both heard comments from them that they were upset and didn't want our company anyway. I have been a bartender and waitress for 5 years now.
