I have never had such a disgusting experience in my life. On Friday night me, two of my roommates and 2 out-of-town guests visited the Iowa City pancheros location. The first thing we noticed when entering the store was the blaring music being played by the employees. The entrance was cramped and we stood at the door for a moment trying to figure out how to properly distance from other customers. The second we started entering the store and paused a few members of the employees started yelling at us to stand on the dots. It was hard to hear them because of the music and they were very rude about it. When through the music we were finally able to process what they were saying we tried to follow directions the best we were able and I tried to explain to my friend that has never been to a pancheros how the menu worked. We were socially distanced from any other customer besides our own group which is usually OK in any other restaurant I visited. But very quickly after we tried to talk amongst ourselves 2 employees came from behind the counter and very rudely started yelling at us and try to usher us to individual little dots by ourselves so we couldn’t speak to each other. It felt like we were being herded like cattle. When I finally got to the counter I could barely even hear my own thoughts let alone the employee trying to take my order. Luckily I already knew my order so I was able to manage but it was much harder for my friend behind me. The second I was done with my transaction I left the store very angry and anxious. Another member of my group was still in there finishing up their transaction and told us that once the first of us left they started saying rude things about us. On top of all that one of the employees wasn’t even wearing a mask. It wasn’t about our safety it was about finding ways to get away with bullying customers. Our friend thought the food was good but he still never wants to visit Pancheros again because of this experience. I feel disgusted I feel violated. From the loud music, to the constant yelling, to the rude words behind our back, to the not caring about our safety by not wearing masks while handling food, I feel ashamed for your restaurant. I try to be understanding because I worked in food service before and understand some of the pressures but the way the employees acted was honestly deplorable. I’ve been trying to contact pancheros and the store personally...
Read moreThis was the first time I Ever went in pancheros at night it was a mess. When I walked in people was just standing around, I'm thinking it was just crowded. I ordered my food , I didn't know there was no steak. I was told the steaks was coming off the grill, so I told him to make my bowl. As he was making my bowl. There was no topping everything had dried up. The queso was still cooking. So I couldn't get everything on my bowl I always get. So now my food is done. Now I'm waiting on the steak it took at least 15 more mins. While my daughters and I was standing there. These two guys were playing and almost knocked my daughters down. I'm think I done spent at least 25 min in this place. Now my patients is wearing thin. So now the steak is done. They fix my daughters food. At this point I'm just ready to leave. Then an employee walks in don't wash his hands just start right to work. At this time all my food is done. I'm still waiting on the queso to get done. They told me it was gonna take a while for it . I just to him to ring me up so I could get out of there. I leave just to find out all my food wasn't in the bag. I had to go back in there to get the rest of my food. I get home that was the wrist bowl I ever got from this place. The reason why I gave it 3 stars is because this is the only time that this happened to me they always have great food. I don't know what happened that night. All I know I won't go back after...
Read moreBecause there are not negative stars. I came in on Nov.4th and ordered a burrito bowl around 11:30pm. My food was cold, so I requested that it be warmed up. To which I was told that there is no microwave. I asked for a refund. I was then charged and refunded the incorrect amount on Nov. 7th. Charged: $8.48 refunded: $7.16. Granted this is not a huge difference but my food was cold and I ordered warm food and I was told I would get a full refund. I then called and Nick the manager hung up on me because I used an elevated voice with him. I agree I was pretty upset when I was told I had to come back down to the store, but there is always a way to calm someone down. So I calmed myself down and I called him back, he was nice, then realized it was me and yelled at me. I told him that I was going to do my best to speak calmly and I tried asking why I needed to come down to the store when they should have a record of my order since I was just billed. to which he told me to "use my tiny little head and think." I tried to explain that the people working that night never gave me receipts, but before I finished saying that, I was hung up on again. How am I suppose to know what you need for the refund if you keep...
