Overpriced and unreliable. Came in a few months ago to get naval jewelry with the reoccurring problem of the top coming unscrewed and falling off and explained the situation in full to the employee. I was hesitant about the price (120$ is a-lot of money for a college student), and the employee explained that their jewelry is less likely to come unscrewed (because it screws in instead of out?) and vaguely mentioned an insurance policy so I inferred that if the top came unscrewed it could be replaced. The top fell off, came to the shop 3 separate days during hours and they were closed without any updates on social media. After a few days, they responded to my messages and I came into the shop. They were not able to replace the top with the original one I had, so I had to spend another 40$ on an opal top. I suggested to the employee that they should maybe explain the insurance policy a little clearer because the only reason I bought the expensive piece was because I thought I would avoid the problems I had with cheap jewelry. She said something along the lines of "when you loose the whole piece no one is just going to give you a new one" which is confusing because I still had the bottom part of the jewelry and it is not functional without both parts. Though I have been a customer at piercing shops who's policy would cover loosing the top of the piercing which I find more reasonable given the price, my problem is not with Releases policy. It's that I feel I was mislead with the policy so I spent more money. Response to owner: I was not confused on the policy, it was never explained to me. If it was when I originally bought the piece, I would not have bought it! I made it clear in the review that I was not arguing the policy, I was saying it should have been explained better in my situation. So the phone example is just rude, and doesn't address the problem at all. Why would the employee vaguely mention that the piece has insurance when I explained my situation but not offer to make sure it was secure? And I apologize, I read the receipt in my email wrong, it was 39$ total...
Read moreGreat place, whether your just interested in finding out more about piercing or your ready to get pierced, this is by far the best place to go. Very friendly staff and very knowledgeable, they take the time to go over the process with you and explain what their doing as they are doing it...they make you part or the experience. Have only been pierced by Pat and Kyle so far, but they have made my visits very enjoyable every time and always make me feel welcomed back. They don't judge you, their main thing is wanting to make you happy and happy with yourself. As far as the shop goes, yeah it's small...but really how much space do you really need. Plus the shop is full of items from rings, to stone plugs as well as wood plugs. Every time I walk in I am greeted with a very happy hello and they always try their best to accommodate my questions and give honest answers. They are NOT high pressure sells people, if you get something great, if not that's cool too. I call this shop a candy store, because every time you walk in and look at the displays you'll see something different. As far as the stone goes there are so many types and sizes to choose from, you almost have to make a few trips in to see them all. Plus some of their stone work is made in house, so don't be afraid too ask a question if you have an idea in your head. I have been around to a lot of tattoo parlors and piercing places, I'm in my 50's. But I can safely say that Release Body Modification is one of the cleanest shops and I feel very safe having them use needles on me. They have a "working" autoclave and show you a tag that they put in with the items going to be used for your piercing to prove they have been sterilized. So do yourself a favor and stop in for a visit to Release Body Modification, plus look them up online and check out their daily specials. It's worth the trip and if you get pierced...your body will thank you in the...
