Ok, so I'm not a "review" kinda person. However, I feel the need to give this pizza restaurant a shout out. So, I just opened a hair salon next to the Publix where Cheesy Pint is located. My FAVORITE food is pizza! And although that sounds so basic, pizza, for many people, HAS to be done a certain way. I've never had New York pizza, or Chicago deep dish pizza, so please know that I am not comparing it to those things. I grew up in little L-town Lexington, SC but I like my pizza a certain way. Their pizza crust...y'all...I don't know how to describe it. I've never had crust like this. It looks thick and fluffy, but then you bite into it, and it's like crispy on the outside, but fluffy on the inside...but at the same time, not too much dough/breading. So something I hate about regular hand tossed pizzas is that the crust is always too much dough. Their pizza crust is something I've never experience, and I'm intrigued. That being said, I had to get smart about it all since I work right beside them, knowing I would be here weekly. So, I decided to try their cauliflower pizza. I HATE CAULIFLOWER!!!!!!!!! I have tried numerous cauliflower mashed potatoes, mac and cheeses, rice etc...it all makes me wanna vomit. Um...not only does their cauliflower pizza taste like regular thin and crispy dough, but OMG THE CRUNCH!!! That crust is the crunch that all of us crunchy people need in our lives!!! I've had their regular red sauce on it, which was so good, but holy Moly people! That PESTO CREAM SAUCE is to die for!!! My family craves that sauce now in all pizzas. Nothing else compares that we've had. Add a few red pepper flakes on top, and you've got yourself a little slice of heaven. Now onto their wings... so, I can't eat anything fried because of my diet. Their wings are BAKED! I never thought I'd like baked wings, but buddy, you haven't lived until you tried Cheesy Pint's baked wings. I have been craving their buffalo wings every single week for the last month, but then, this past Monday, Bill the owner recommended a new sauce. He told me to try their new HONEY SRIRACHA wings. Shut the front door! The combination of sweet and a little bit spicy is absolute PERFECTION. I ordered an obscene amount of them for our family the next day for dinner after work. Aside from the great food, this place is dripping with the sweetest servers! To name the few that have served me with Excellence over and over again are Anna, Catherine, Jada, and Jake. Endless smiles, help and even so much gratitude when tipping. They work so hard, and are just blown away when patrons show their gratitude with a good tip and smiley faces on the receipt that I leave. I dont think people realize how much they are running around to make everything perfect for the customers. Because I am always eating alone, or ordering to go alone, I sit and watch the hustle, and let's just say that I'm thoroughly impressed by the work ethic every.single.time. I also want to give a big shout out to Mr. Bill, the owner. He is always walking around and talking to customers, getting to know us, and makes a point to make people feel welcome. If you're over here in Irmo, whether you live here, or your passing through, definitely stop into Cheesy Pint in the Publix shopping center. You...
Read moreI love pizza, but that means I'm picky about it, too. Cheesy Pint opened recently so we figured we'd give it a try - especially since we heard rumors it was owned by the same people who owned Social Grill (which happened to be one of our favorites).
I placed the order online via Toast and arrived at the Toast designated pick up time. It was confusing when I walked in. The host stand is to the left as soon as you walk in, so a small crowd quickly enveloped the small area. I waited for my food. And waited. It seemed like it took about 10 minutes (though it could have been the uncomfortableness of the "waiting area"). Our drive home was less than 3 minutes, the restaurant is less than a mile from my house.
We ordered a large cheese pizza and a BYO calzone. The pizza looked like it had been sitting for quite some time. The cheese and sauce almost muddled into one instead of greasy goodness on too. It was so thin it might have been a pizza crisp (think parmesan crisps). There was a good 3 inches of flat crust around this minimally sauced, minimally cheesed pie. The flavor of the sauce wasn't bad (utilized on the right dough, it would have made for a decent pizza sauce). The calzone was just as thin and contained barely any cheeses and only a sprinkle of the 3 different meats we requested.
To say we were disappointed is an understatement. Given both the pizza and calzone dough were rolled so thin, it's hard to imagine this was a fluke or the restaurant having a bad night. I really had high hopes but this fell short. If you like ultra thin pizza, this might be for you. It just...
Read moreI normally don’t leave negative reviews, but I feel this experience needs to be shared. I had heard good things about this place and wanted to try it out for the first time with my girlfriend, who has been here several times before. We love supporting local, so we were looking forward to it.
We sat at the bar and the bartender immediately asked for our IDs—which is completely fine and expected. After the usual process, we ordered our drinks without issue. However, about 5–10 minutes later, the bartender came back and asked to see our IDs again. She examined them with extreme suspicion, more intensely than what you’d expect at an airport.
Then, without giving us any explanation, she refused to serve us. I’ve never once in my life been denied service, and I was honestly shocked and embarrassed. No reason was given, and the situation was handled very poorly. Especially because she kept talking to a girl in the kitchen who had her arms crossed and had a look of anger on her face.
It’s disappointing because I was genuinely excited to try the food and see what this place had to offer. Unfortunately, after this experience, I won’t be returning or recommending...
