I thought I was ordering from Thai Chai Yo Bistro (a great Thai place that had been here the past 7 years I’ve lived here) because this location is still listed as Thai Chai Yo Bistro when you look it up online, the phone number hasn’t changed either (the number currently listed online for Thai Chai Yo Bistro connects you to this restaurant) and they answer the phone only saying “Hello”, so I had no reason to think it wasn’t the same place. Once I placed my order, according to the Thai Chai Yo Bistro menu, the total would’ve been around $20, (my order was only 5 appetizers: pork dumplings, spring roll (4 piece), side fried rice, chicken satay (4 thin pieces), a small wonton soup and 1 can of soda) but the man said it was going to be $34.96. I was shocked, but I said, “Ok”, I checked the menu again after I placed the order and saw that my assumption was right and called back and said the online menu said it was far less expensive and the man just replied, “Oh”. I said I would just go through with it anyway, when I should’ve just cancelled the order right then. A few minutes later I called back to ask if I could just remove the wonton soup and the woman who answered the phone told me it was “too late” and that “they had made it already”, I highly doubt the soup is made to order, but I didn’t want to trouble them. I arrive at the location and see its now “Thai Monkey”, I come in and ask, “Is this not Thai Chai Yo Bistro then?” and the gentleman explains that that was the old restaurant, but that their portions are bigger to match the increased cost (they absolutely are NOT). They gave me a $3 gift card with my order, but overall, I felt very ripped off. I took a picture of what I got and it doesn’t even look like $20 worth of food to me. The food was decent, but I won’t be returning because it was simply not worth the money. A fair warning to anyone looking to dine here, it’s unreasonably expensive for what you get. My first and last time going to this restaurant.

My suggestions to management:

Answer the phone mentioning your restaurants name, like, “Hello, this is Thai Monkey” and take down the “Thai Chai Yo Bistro” listings.

If someone wants to take something off their order 5 minutes after calling it in, consider being a bit more...

Feedback welcome. I will also post the pictures.

Had lunch at Gai by Thai Monkey yesterday and it was amazing.

I knew the second I walked into the restaurant that it was going to be great. The decor is done in a very tranquil, blue color and you will feel relaxed and ready for a wonderful experience as soon as you walk in the door.

We started with Chicken Gyoza and Chicken Satay for apps, and then split Khao Man Gai (#1) and Kua Gai noodles (#8).

Gai means chicken and that’s what they specialize in and every dish we had was outstanding.

We tried two different types of desserts; sweet rice with mango and roti with tea mousse.   The tea mouse is not on the menu but ask the GM - Ploy, for it and she will gladly accommodate you.

I also had Thai tea.   I hesitated to order it because it can sometimes be a little sweet. Ploy suggested I mix it with unsweetened tea.  I trusted her recommendation and it something I will order again and again.

Mixing it is a great option for those who don’t like their drinks too sweet like me or those who are watching their sugars.

I strongly recommend this restaurant.  The staff was great, the ambience was great and the food was great.

I will definitely be returning and definitely trying some of the other options, Kao Soi (#10) being the one I will be...

When I got my order it was so little riche with some veggies and chicken but very spice .. i called and I keep telling them this food is spicy the employee said it is not spicy ai keep replying it is spice I can even see the flakes ... she gives the phone to a guy and keep repeating to me it is not spice at this point I was upset ! Really I said is spicy and I taste it and I can see the flakes ... I said not spicy at all I can't eat spice . He didint apologize or said anything nice like hey we will change your order and next time we will give you like a $10 credit or free desert.. he just told me bring the old food and returned and we will make a new one .. Of course we bring the food but the way it was managed was so unprofessional they ar e not courteous at all .. they don't care about the customer experience just about the money . Really you guys have to learn about how to handle this...
