R'SZN Caribbean Jerk Center — Restaurant in Irvington

The food is absolutely delicious. Five across-the-board some of the Best Caribbean food in the Essex County area in my opinion. I came across The restaurant on Instagram and was very excited to try it out! My man and I ordered the jerk oxtails mac & cheese, and a side of green plantains..

The oxtails were fully of flavor and tender fall off the bone barely had to chew !! The jerk season was well-balanced and not too spicy. ( I love spicy food btw)

I was actually surprised by the mac & cheese !! Normally, when you’re getting mac & cheese at Caribbean spots, it can either be a hit or miss Due to the stereotype that Caribbean mac & cheese is it necessarily as decadent as southern Soul Food mac & cheese but I definitely enjoyed it !!

The green plantains was cut perfectly fried to perfection could use a bit of salt Fresh out the fryer, but nevertheless, a perfect size to complement everything

The only reason I did not give them a full 5 stars Due to the long wait for the food . My man and I arrived to the restaurant around 11:30am .. originally my man wanted the jerk chicken but they said it will be a hour wait so we went with the oxtail thinking it will be faster . However we didnot get our food till damn near 1pm .. there are other people that came before us that got their food pretty quickly! Now will say that the guy working was extremely apologetic and continuously acknowledge the fact that we were waiting so long he offered an additional side for our wait and added a little extra oxtails as well Which was very nice ..

I only have one recommendation for the owner and that would be to consider starting the prep of the meat a little earlier. I understand with making this particular cuisine takes time so maybe since the restaurant opens at 11 possibly starting the prep around 8 o’clock in the morning just to have everything ready for that...

The long face gal behind the register will ruin your mood and day, dont let her ruin it. If you plan on asking about the food, dont ask her because she has an attitude that's as dull has her face. Just ask someone else. WAIT TIME is about 35 mins to an hour for your food to be ready. EDIT : JUST IMAGINE THIS HAPPENED TO YOU. I WENT BACK TO THIS LOCATION, AND I WAS CONFRONTED BY THE OWNER AKA BLACKS. HE WAS BEHIND THE REGISTER AND I WENT TO MAKE MY ORDER, AND HE SAID TO ME THAT HE DIDNT LIKE MY REVIEW I LEFT ON GOOGLE ABOUT IS BUSINESS, AND I COULD HAVE TALKED TO HIM PERSONALLY HE ELABORATE ON HOW SHE WILL ALWAYS BE HERE SHE DIDNT GET FIRED, BUT MY REVIEW IS HURTING IS BUSINESS. INSTEAD OF SPEAKING TO ME LIKE AN ADULT YOU EMBARRASSED ME IN YOUR PLACE OF BUSINESS IN FRONT OF YOUR EMPLOYEES AND STRANGERS!. HE GUY BEHIND ME IN LINE THAT WAS LISTENING THE ENTIRE TIME STEPPED INFRONT OF ME AND BLACKS THE OWNER TOOK IS ORDER AND IGNORED ME SO I LEFT THE STORE. HAVE YOU EVER BEEN CONFRONTED FOR LEAVING A REVIEW?? AND HOW WOULD YOU FEEL IF THIS HAPPEND TO YOU???? PEOPLE DONT USUALLY CARE ABOUT WHAT HAPPEN TO OTHERS UNTIL YOURE IN THAT SITUATION.
