El Platanal Isabela (Kasadavid) — Restaurant in Isabela

As always, I only rate restaurants that in my opinion, are five stars. The stars are given taking into account the type of place that we are visiting. We went to D. Texas BBQ in Isabela. It was a Sunday at peak hour, 1:00pm. The place was fully packed. Still, considering the crowd, the service was courteous, very friendly and the food arrived in a reasonable time frame. We were five in the group. We ordered 3 mojitos and they were very good, also two very cold Medalla beers. For lunch we ordered a classic hamburguer with all the fittings with a side of home made fries, two brisket sandwiches with a side of sweet potato fries and onion rings, 1 house churrasco with mofongo a mamposteao rice and a brisket plate also with the mofongo and the rice. The consensus of everyone on the table was that the food tasted great, good quality meat, the onion rings and the chips were perfect. The mamposteao rice and the mofongo we're also very good. For dessert only one plate was ordered, everybody was full because the portions were very big. An order of cheesecake with strawberry sauce, and although it wasn't something out of this world, it was still very good. The ambiance of the place evokes the state of Texas, with state flags, cowboy hats and wild buffalos. All in all this restaurant is a very good option for a relax and informal family outing. Another plus are the prices, the bill came out at $148 including taxes, it won't break the bank. Whenever you are in the Isabela area this is a very good eating...

I don't feel this place even deserved one star. We are from Texas and this place will never measure up to the name. I brought my family here to enjoy dinner after traveling and it took 20 min before my sister question the staff that was standing around if anyone was going to serve us after that it took another 5 before someone came to assist. The food was horrible burger was over seasoned, grilled chicken wasn't cooked all the way, then the pastrami sandwich was over cooked and the pork chop plate the meat tasted like fish along with the monfongo. Great presentation but terrible service. I came with my family and waited around 15 min to get my order taken, like 30 minutes more to get drinks and appetizers and like 30 more minutes for food because my wife ask for it, even people that came in before me had their before me. The waiters don’t acknowledge you at all and don’t take care of your basic needs like refills. The burgers were too salty, their house Mac and cheese had no taste at all and the nachos barely had any toppings or steak. Our first and last time here and it wasn’t cheap neither.
