Found this little hole in the wall place on Google reviews, looking for somewhere to eat lunch. Had a 4.8 star rating and the reviews were all good. Was skeptical upon arriving but looks doesn't mean a thing here. The tuna nachos were amazing and I learned that most every food item there is homemade right down to thier sauces and nacho chips. Frank the manager gave us a bowl of crab bisque to try after talking with him for several minutes about how they make almost everything on site. I had seared tuna tacos and my wife had the coconut shrimp in which the breading was perfect and tasted amazing as well. Definitely a place you want to put on your list to stop by and try. Im usually tough on my critiques of places but I couldn't find a single thing I would change. Small menu and homemade flavors that you rarely find anywhere. I wish there was a twisted shrimp in my local area so I could be a regular there. If I'm in the area, I will certainly be a regular while I'm in town in the future. Stop by and give them a try. Some of the best food I've found in the keys...
Read moreDuring a trip to the Florida Keys, my fiancée and I came across this gem. This small restaurant has indoor and outdoor seating, so we chose to sit outside and enjoy the Florida breeze.
We ordered the fried shrimp with coleslaw and fried fish with sweet potato fries, plus a local Islamorada beer to drink and a slice of Key lime pie to finish. When the food arrived, it looked light, but each bite proved otherwise. The fried shrimp was tender, crunchy, and juicy, perfectly paired with the fresh coleslaw. The fried fish was full of meat and crispy, while the golden-brown sweet potato fries hit the spot. The Key lime pie was the ideal balance of sweet and tart, and the Islamorada beer was smooth with a slight taste of hops, malt, and floral.
The relaxed outdoor seating added to the experience, complete with geckos running around for food, adding a touch of Florida Keys charm. The staff was friendly, and the whole place, including the bathroom, was clean.
Twisted Shrimp is a spot I’d gladly return to next time I’m in the Keys.

Read moreUpdate: March 2022.. No dog this time. Not as crowded. gluten free food still pretty good, not fantastic. However, hair was found fried into my fried shrimp. Yucko! But staying with the 4 stars because they do so well with gluten free options ,(sans hair). Still nearly got smacked trying to do a left out of their parking lot. Not sure we will go back. But next time taking a right to get out of there. 😏
It has Gluten free options. Dedicated fryer. Very casual. Folks there super nice. Food is..so so. Had half pound fried shrimp with french fries. Only place left to eat was in the rocks so there were. They had their dog tired out there by where we had to sit. Good thing I like dogs. It was right by our table the whole time starting at me waiting for some morsel. Thought that was uncomfortable...I did finally give him a fry or two. But probably won't be back. Thought the taste was pretty plain. Not really much of a gluten free breading. Not a lot of parking that I could see. but hard to get back out in traffic...
