We have been going to Mona Lisa for several years. Under the former owners, it was a great place to eat. Tonight, our experience was very disappointing. First, our service was ok at best. Our waiter was cordial and friendly, but one of our meal orders was wrong, our appetizer order had to be cancelled because he forgot to put the order in, and he neglected to bring some of the things we had asked for. We spoke with the owner and received a few half-hearted apologies, but that was about it. Secondly, my husband ordered one of the specials. When we got the bill, the price listed was 40.00. Surprised that this meal was so high given the Mona Lisa is not a high end establishment, we asked the owner if this was the correct price. He said it was and proceeded to list other restaurants in which we would be paying much more. Interesting, his comparison was made with fine dining establishments which clearly, Mona Lisa is not. He then continued to defend his position by "educating" us as to why the cost was so high. He again offered more half-hearted apologies, but pretty much shrugged off our concerns and made no attempt whatsoever to regain our satisfaction. We got the impression he just really didn't care that we were not satisfied. And the worst part is that the quality did not match the price at all!! After taking the first bite, my husband mentioned that it didn't taste as if it was fresh.
So lessons learned...
Bottom Line...Won't be returning. ...
Read moreDisclaimer: I did not eat any of the food from this establishment due to a lapse in safety practices, so I can't speak towards food quality.
I placed an order for pickup and walked in to receive my order. It was surprising to me to find that out of the 8 employees I came face to face with, only one was wearing a mask. I was asked my name and replied that I was there to pick up for Tiana, but didn't feel comfortable accepting the food since hardly anybody was wearing a mask.
This has happened about twice since I've been in NJ, and the management of the other establishments were understanding, telling me I could just leave the food if I didn't feel comfortable.
This establishment, however, was unnecessarily hostile with their response. I was met with laughs, scoffs, and a scathing remark from one of the managers as I walked out. "I hope you don't get COVID!" he yelled. It was incredibly rude, and you would think that those in the service industry would have a bit more understanding of the importance of food safety.
In this time, if you don't do all that you can to protect your customers and ensure their safety - you're not worthy of your patrons. If management doesn't care enough to follow basic safety procedure in the midst of a pandemic, I can hardly imagine what practices they might neglect under normal...
Read moreIf i could give this place zero stars, i would....I've ordered a few times from this place because it's literally less than 5 minutes away from me. First off, the quality of the food has most certainly decreased. the portions have drastically decreased while the price has increased. They used give bread with pasta before but not anymore. Last time I placed a delivery order and had to wait 2 hours before I called and the girl on the phone argued that her driver did deliver the food and that I didn't answer the door so it was left at my front door which was an absolute lie. They delivered my food to someone elses place....This time i placed a pick order to avoid the hassle of delivery challenges. The major disappointment was they gave me burnt garlic knots. Like do they really not check what they are serving their customers?!?!? Lastly, the girl they have working in the front is beyond unprofessional. I greeted her twice thinking she just didn't hear me the first time but I was wrong. I paid over $60 for food quality of less than $15...I don't recommend this place to anyone. Worst experience from a...
