Only one star because that was my lowest option. It was our first and last time here and we barely ate the food. We ordered two sandwiches and latkes. When we paid they couldn’t break a $50 bill and had to give us $12 worth of singles, which we were understanding of. However our experience only got worse from there. I looked at my sandwich when we got to the car and I realized my sandwich was missing one of the types of meat that comes with the sandwich. It was a very easy sandwich, it was only supposed to have ham, salami and provolone. It was missing the salami. We went back inside and I let them know I didn’t have time to wait for a new sandwich because we were on our way to a function out of state. The cashier barely said anything, not even an apology. She goes to attempt to process the refund and then tells me she cannot give me a refund without calling her boss first. I once again explained I was on a time restraint. While that was going on the back of the house re-made my sandwich. It was quicker than the refund however when I got the re-made sandwich it had salami this time however it was missing the ham. As I didn’t have even more time to wait for them to make the sandwich for a third time I threw it out and left. Now I am without lunch and without a refund. Don’t go here if you expect good or even decent customer service. Do not waste your time and money because you will not get it back easily if they mess...
Read moreWhat a disappointment it was. I had a Reuben the week it opened and the delays, messed up order, and poor quality pastrami were attributed to poor management. I went back a month later and ordered a Pastrami Reuben and a Corned Beef Reuben. My wife and I started to eat them but wound up throwing them away as BOTH were riddled with fat and sinews. It was the worst quality Pastrami and Corned Beef I have eaten in my life. At over 85 years old, that long lifetime included numerous Reuben from Connecticut to Florida. To reinstate my belief that quality Pastrami and Corned Beef Reubens are available, we stopped at Rein's Delicatessen (435 Hartford Turnpike, Vernon, CT 06066) a few days ago and were blown away with the quality, as it contained none of fat and grizzle that caused us to throw away the Pastrami House Reuben. The Rein's Reuben was $11 and we paid an extra dollar to get "first cut" but not more costly than those at the Pastrami Delicatessen. So sad to see a badly needed quality store in our area, only to find that the quality is far...
Read more#1 Corned beef sandwich. Corned beef had absolutely no flavor, no spices and the rye bread was tasteless. Baked beans were cold and lacked taste. Mac and cheese lacked the cheese part, didn't even tast like it was homemade, coleslaw was inedible tasted horrible. Even the pickle lacked flavor. #2 Pastrami, you would think it would be absolutely amazing as it's in their name! Well let me tell you, it was fatty and chewy. I'd get more flavor out of chewing the bag it came from. The rye bread was mote of a white bread shaped as a rye bread. Cheesecakes, small cheesecake prepackaged frozen garbage! The plain cheesecake tasted like it was probably on day 2 of being spoiled, the blueberry cheesecake was probably on day 1 of being spoiled! Only good part of this first and final trip was the egg cream out of the soda machine that is made with Bosco chocolate syrup. Over $50 for a horrible lunch, next time I'll drive to Edison and go to Harold's. PS All hot sides...
