My husband and I rarely get out between work, kids, and covid. We decided to go out as I was in the mood for a steak. We arrived at 630pm on Friday evening. The parking lot was packed but the wait was only maybe 10mins. We took our children ages 3 and 1 and required a booster and high chair. We were seated tandem with another older couple in the dining area up front beside the bar. The other couple ended up moving out of the dining area almost immediately after watching me struggle to find a way to fit my children in at the table and I felt very badly and apologized but the man insisted he just preferred to not sit in the corner. With them vacating and upon his suggestion, I pushed their table back and made the appropriate room for my family to fit comfortably at our table. I felt very guilty taking a table out of rotation for our waitress so I tipped generously. Aside from the seating being garbage though, our waitress was a delight and prompt. So were all the other staff we interacted with there. Our appetizers came out hot, fresh, and timely. Our food arrived before expected and my husband's steak was cooked so perfectly I almost switched plates with him. He had a sirloin and I had prime rib. My prime rib was a bit bland for my liking but that is actually my fault as I ordered the traditional version when I wanted the "dakota" flavor. I just totally forgot to say that when ordering, my own fault! But it was melt in my mouth tender as expected and the sides had great seaosning. My kids had Mac n cheese (fancy as heck for kids food) and chicken bites, respectively. But they mostly ate bites of their father and my food and we brought a bunch home for snacking tomorrow. Overall I would suggest downsizing a couple tables in that dining area to make it more family friendly but the staff and food...
Read moreI ate there yesterday afternoon. First time and last time at this Dakota's. Very poor service from my waitress. Waited 10 minutes or so before she even came to my table to take my order for drinks and appetizer. Once she brought my appetizer which were pretzel bites, they did not have one speck of salt on any of them. I mean who eats pretzel bites without any salt on them? Ordered my steak to be cooked med and when it came it was rare! Was the poorest cut of a ribeye steak that I have eaten in years. Asked for ketchup and it took another 10 minutes to get that. Once the waitress brought my check it took another 10-15 minutes before she came to pick my card up to pay for the bill. I have eaten at the Dakota's in Hillsboro Ohio many times and never have had bad service and or bad food. The manager at the Dakota's in Hillsboro floats around the store personally asking patrons about how their meal and...
Read moreThe food is not prepared the way you ask for it, I ordered a well done steak the last 3 times I went there and got a still bleeding mooing steak and will not send food back because I dont want my food spit in so I just didnt eat my meal I ordered because the rest of it didnt taste great either. Most of the servers act like the customers are a bother and they dont try to hide their attitudes or animosity toward the customers, they hide from "problem customers" if they're asking for too much service. Its very un-professional and you dont feel like they really care how you want your food, just tell them what you want and deal with whatever they bring you and however its made because if you say anything about it being done incorrectly you get attitude from that point til you leave. None of the staff act like they want to be there and they take their misery out on...
