Bruster's Real Ice Cream — Restaurant in Jacksonville

We have bought cakes here for years and this is the last experience was terrible customer service. We came through the drive through and they said we could not do a cake order from the drive thru and had to come to outside to the front during a heat advisory. There was no one in the line no one waiting at the front. We said we would call to order since we’ve done that several times before and picked up at the drive thru. We wanted to simply pickup one of the premade cakes. Well I guess since I didn’t want to wait in the 98 degree weather, they had an attitude when I called and then said the girl who writes the names on the cakes was “busy” with no one in line with anyone to see and the manager was not there to do it either. I then proceed to back up and can see the staff looking out the window at me talking. Looks like they were busy talking to each other and standing around. I would have called back to get a refund and not go back through the drive thru for pickup if my birthday girl wasn’t in the car excited about her cake. We...

We stopped in for ice cream today (which was delicious and hit the spot on a hot summer day!) and at the end of our visit, the littlest member of our group took a spill that we thought required a hospital visit. The ambulance came and while these two mothers were getting all of their ducks in a row, the owner, Kathy, was truly amazing. She immediately brought out water bottles, ice and wash cloths. The other children were very concerned and anxious until Kathy swooped in and offered a tour of the ice cream facility to take their minds off the current situation. The kids immediately jumped at the opportunity (who wouldn’t?!) so Kathy brought us inside, entertained the kids with jokes and free samples while our brave little guy headed to the hospital with mom and we waited for dad to arrive. Kathy was the real mvp and exactly what we needed in this moment. We are thankful for Kathy going above and beyond to help, and this Brusters will be getting a lot more of our business...

I've been to Bruster's 3 times now....and each time....IT DOES NOT DISAPPOINT! Forget Hershey's! Forget Coldstone Creamery! Forget Baskin Robbins and forget any other ice cream they sell on the shelf. Even Ben & Jerry's and for me that's saying a lot! I'm a huge Butter Pecan fan and their Butter Pecan is so chocked full of roasted sweet pecans....just absolutely delicious and very creamy. I also had their southern banana pudding ice cream. It actually had Nilla wafers in it. Honestly....out of this world!

From the helpfulness and friendliness, right down to the awesome pricing, and they give coupons?!?!?! AND THEY HAVE DIFFERENT FLAVORS ALL THE TIME on top of their regular menu! If you live in the Mandarin area and you're cruising down San Jose Blvd and need something sweet, I highly recommend you try Brusters. You'll never wanna eat at other ice cream places again.
