Hungry Howie's Pizza & Subs — Restaurant in Jacksonville

I love hungry Howies pizza, I am from Michigan where the company started. I've always been a fan. This store makes pretty good pizza, not as good as it is back home, but better than some others around (Pizza Hut) The delivery, every time I order, seems slower. I am currently waiting on a pizza I ordered at 6 o'clock. It is now nearly 8 o'clock and the store said it was on its way 20 minutes ago. I live 13 minutes from the store. It seems like every delivery will take an hour and a half minimum. My Chinese food seems to arrive fast enough for me to set the table and wash my hands, it's very impressive and they are a greater distance than hungry Howies. Although I am a loyal fan of the Howies brand, I think I will be finding another company for my pizza nights. I'd rather eat Pizza Hut, although I'm not a fan, than wait until after my children's bed times to eat dinner.

Update! We received our pizza after two hours and fifteen minutes. The pizza was made at 6:09 (indicated on the box) and we received it at 8:15, after making three phone calls back to find out where our dinner was at! Starving, we ate it. It somehow had a small amount of warmth left in it and the cheese came off the entire slice during your first bite. I have had better gas station pizza and I've never had worse service from a good service. Mind you I am in the Navy, that is saying a lot. We were offered a free pizza to make up for this fiasco, from someone who claimed that the manager was personally bringing out our pizza. When the delivery arrived, we found out that the woman I was speaking to was the night manager and he was just a part time worker that worked days at fastenal. So the manager lied to us, and ran a business that cooks food and waits two hours to deliver it to paying customers. Is this a health violation?? Never again. Keep your free 2 hour old large pizza. I'll be buying frozen pizzas from now on, better quality from a frozen food section, and it's ready at dinner time, not my...

The family and I ordered pizza at 7:30, online it said it would take 60 minutes. It is now 8:55 and still have not received our order. We called up there and explained we have not received our food yet she rudely assumed we ordered by phone stating we were told deliveries would take 1 1/2 - 2 hours when clearly no one “told” us that information when we ordered online our order confirmation screenshot shows “60 minutes” she continued to tell me my order just left the building and would still take awhile to come ( even tho we are only 1.7 miles from the restaurant ). It is now 9:04 as I continue to write this and no food has arrived still..very disappointing especially to have not of received so little as any apology..thank you for a “lovely” dinner Hungry Howie’s!

UPDATE!!!!! As we were looking at the window waiting for the food to be delivered the delivery driver pulls up smoking a cigarette and continued to smoke outside the vehicle for another minute or two and then began to unload our order. Mind you he came to the door with no mask so I guess Hungry Howie’s does not seem to care about our or their health during this COVID pandemic. Being very hungry and especially after the long wait we all had to take into strong thoughts of even to eat the food or not (who’s to say whatever health concerns they do not take under consideration throughout the restaurant prior to us receiving our food, aside from his cigarette smoke). At least the driver was nice that is the only thing I feel bad about in writing this review other then that I hope this being seen someone in this company will fix this experience for the next poor people who order from here. Over the last few months my husband and I started ordering from here again and the food has been great no problems for the past Five months. Well tonight we ordered around 6:15pm and we were given the usual it'll be an hour for delivery no problem we understand. The issue arose first off my husband calls to check on status of order and he was told their driver got into minor accident and has our food he should be there shortly OK stuff happens no biggie,we understand,well 2 hours later husband calls back and asked again the status of our order,my husband was told it should be there within 5mins. My husband asked to speak to manager and he says rudely ummm I am the manager. So my husband says do you know it's been 2 hours since I've ordered and he told my husband oh no it hasn't and when my husband told him he has proof (due to cell phone call logs) he began to argue with my husband. So my husband hung up. Food finally arrives another 20 mins later which is of course cold and my husband mentioned that we were told he was in minor car accident and driver responded with do what,thats not what happened,I had a family emergency and took care of it really quick and came back to work. My issue is #1- The manager never made any type of effort to call and let us know that it was going to be another hour before our food is delivered. #2- Due to the fact that the manager failed to call and inform us of the delay,we never had an option to wait additional time than originally given or come to the store and Pick up the order #3- Why and the world would the manager lie about what the hold up was with our order.
