Hurricane Grill & Wings-Julington Creek — Restaurant in Jacksonville

Our server is Ashley Bouthillet....I honestly cannot say enough great things about her, but here is what I will say. My son used to work there...everyone loved him...the owner said he got more great reviews than everyone put together. So I have to say Ashley is right up there with my son. Of course she is beautiful...and we love teasing her about looking like Paris Hilton, but she's actually prettier. But of course that's not what defines Ashley. She struggled at first with waiting on 20 people the very first night which is expected...but after that 1st night, she was a pro. She is kind, personable, smart...and so much more. She always gets our orders right, and it comes out great and that says alot for the kitchen staff, so kudos on them. She is so patient with all of us, and that says so much. I am in the business of dealing with people everyday...soooo much that I can honestly say, that she goes above and beyond and being a once business owner, is what I always told my employees. There are many places to eat in Mandarin, so I say give the patrons what other places may not give and that is SERVICE with a smile!!! She does that even though it's difficult waiting on that many people at one time. I am so impressed that if I had a business, I would hire her in a second. She's simply amazing and noone deserves these accalades more than she does. Thank you for hiring her, for staffing her on the night we come to Bingo because we don't know what we would do without her. Everyone looks to me for Bingo night in all aspects, and I can tell you that everyone at our table raves about her.....she is the BEST!!! thank you Ashley for all you do....

Upon entering we were greeted by a “seat yourself” sign on the podium just inside the door. The bar area and outdoor seating were jammed packed. We opted for the relatively empty dining area on the left side of the restaurant. After 15 minutes the server came by to ask if we had been waited on yet. Menus were given and drink orders taken. While my partner ordered an entree, I decided the rather large appetizer of blue cheese chips with assorted toppings would suffice. I let the server know I was ordering that as my meal and the Mexican street corn would be our appetizer. Overall rather unhealthy selection but sounded delicious. The Mexican street corn tasted amazing. This particular time it was a little on the cool side, I was willing to overlook that as the taste was still on point and I was pleased. The blue cheese chips arrived soon after while I was still working on the corn. When I started to dig into the perceived pile of awesomeness, I found cold and soggy chips drenched in tomato juice from the salsa on top. I’m not sure if a communication issue occurred in the kitchen or if the dish was meant to be prepared in that way, but it was not what I was expecting. I decided to pick through for the crispy chips and enjoy what I could of it. My conclusion is that the best service is to be had at or close to the bar. Which is expected considering that it is most likely the biggest draw of customers. I still recommend eating here as the staff is friendly and the food is usually delicious with a nice selection of alcoholic drinks. Be mindful of the time and crowd of customers as it seems this restaurant can quickly become...

Management seems to be sorely lacking, as well as professionalism. I saw an employee try to physically attack a bar patron this week and nothing seemed to be done about the situation from what I saw. The guest left immediately after the altercation with no apology from any employee or manager. Definitely won’t ever return especially not with my kids as it seems to be an unsafe environment. If I could leave zero stars I would. The food made me severely sick a few months ago as well, which I never felt the need to share till I saw how bad management was in this store. I’ve worked in restaurants for 12 years and never seen one run as poorly as this particular restaurant. I wanted to give them another try after the food poisoning incident, but as soon as I did, I watch a guest almost get attacked by a grown man working there. Scary and disappointing would be an understatement. Corporate has a responsibility to Julington Creek to fix things in this store before something worse happens. Unfortunately I won’t return to hurricanes after the past year of bad service, food poisoning and employees attempting to attack guests. At the very least I would have expected an apology to the bar guest as well as the other guests who had to watch the cook act that way and ruin...
