I went yesterday March 24th 2024. I had fried fish with 1/4 crab cake with red beans and rice. And broiled potatoes with two hush-puppies, and a Ginger Ale to drink. I loved my meal, it filled me up and I enjoyed seeing busy crew members. Great lunch for a Sunday or any time during the evening meals. <> UPDATE <> The Blue Crab Crabhouse reopened June 6th 2023. I went today June 11th 2023. Had six blue crabs new boiled red potatoes and my Ginger Ale. I saw some new crew members. But Michael is still there. And the Great Owners Cindy and Tom. I have my Restaurant Family back and the same great food. New hours on Sunday 12pm till 9pm. Closed on Mondays and open Tuesday through Saturday 4:30pm till 10pm. Its time to go back to the Blue Crab Crabhouse Thank God! <> I'm a huge fan of the Blue Crab Crabhouse and have been since 1996. When you find a great restaurant for Blue Crab and other wonderful seafood meals and even a hamburger once in awhile why go anyplace else. I had a half dozen female crabs with french fries. I like getting a monkey bowl of butter and some of their crab season and some black pepper. My drink of choice is a Ginger Ale. The crabs this year haven't been very big. But when you love Blue Crabs like I do you take what you can get. The staff and Owners of the Blue Crab in my opinion are very good. I have never gotten an negative attitude from any. For some other restaurants I go to as a single diner I have. The Blue Crab Crabhouse treats me like family. Thanks to Tom, Cindy and the crew for caring about me. And having wonderful food. EHJ

Was looking forward to a crab dinner. Snow crab dinner with hush puppies, cole slaw, and garlic toast. Mmm. Dinner arrived - one skimpy cluster, 2 hush puppies… for $22.95. This is a snack, an appetizer, a lunch - but not a dinner. The owner threw in a free piece of pie when I complained, and explained prices have gone up yada yada, and that the menu did say one cluster, which I missed. Ok… if I had know , I might have thought twice. What I want: plenty of crab, from a crab shack restaurant, for whatever price. If it was $35 for 2 clusters or $45 for 3 or 4 clusters, fine. But don’t charge $25 and bring one skimpy cluster, I don’t know anyone who would be satisfied with that. The service was great (kudos to the server for being super professional), the response to my concern was great (one of the owners came and talked to me), the food quality was fine. The prices are (somewhat) out of their control. The portion size and market price of dinner are within their control. I don’t like to throw shade at local business owners during the pandemic because of everything. But this was disappointing.

We came here based on my niece’s rave reviews. Not sure why I thought this was on the river! I’m a Jax native who moved away to a big city years ago but I always miss good local seafood. I’ve tried so many places when I come back, from Julington Creek Fish Camp, North Beach Fish Camp, Sliders and Safe Harbor. This is by FAR the best seafood we’ve had in years. Every single dish we ordered was FRESH and extremely flavorful. The shrimp was some of the freshest I’ve had in a while. The hush puppies were so light, airy and melted in your mouth. The blue crab was fresh but the snow crab was our absolutely favorite! The garlic butter was the perfect ratio of garlic, parsley and butter! I wanted to bathe in it! :) McKenna was our server and she was incredible and extremely attentive. She explained everything on the menu and made sure we had a great experience. I would give her 10 stars instead of 5 ⭐️! Cindy was so kind as well. She was so sweet and accommodating. The music was my favorite… so nostalgic. Loved the entire experience from start to finish and we will be back.

EDIT 1: I appreciate that you responded back with a series of rebuttals which is not normal but much appreciated I suppose for clarity. You are in fact the first establishment that I mentioned something to in review and in passing as I left that really didn't care in either case. Congrats. I have asked zero from you or your establishment.

The fact you decided to not give an apology but instead pointed out the extensive time frame from when we arrived until when we ordered and then got to eat shows nicely the time we sat waiting that I chose not to point out from simple politeness. I suppose I shall now. It took a good long bit. Even for a larger party. The most it has since we've been here since 2018 and start eating at different establishments in the area. From check in, to seating, to order, to eating on a Saturday night. The longest by far.

I wish you the best in your endeavors, and I'm sure you will be successful in the long run.

I will take my obviously unwanted business to the nearly dozen other locations that can serve proper fish and chips in under an hour. Best of luck. After a review and response, my thoughts are complete.

My son and his fiancé wanted to try this restaurant, so we took the family there on a Saturday night. The outside is perfect small-town, homey restaurant feel. Inside was the same. Not a commercial joint. That's what we like. :)

Great: Everyone at the table short of my wife and I loved their food!! Hot, full plates, very appetizing. They all had great comments. The shrimp scampi, that I should have ordered, looked amazing.....Service personnel were very friendly!

Not Great: It took just over an hour for the entrees to arrive. Understand it's a Saturday evening, but that is about the most we've waited here in JAX so far.

Disappointing: My wife and I got the Fish and Chips since its usually a safe option at a new restaurant. It was probably the smallest servings/plate that I've received for fish and chips...maybe ever. Four potato wedges were small, cold, and soggy as heck. Small fish pieces were all same shape and size, and kinda soggy too. Fish may have been precut to that shape or simply using the tail section of fillets, but just kinda not the norm for fish and chips from a seafood place.

All in all, the family loved their meal despite the wait. My wife and I were left wanting having had the worst fish and chips we've had in our time together. Sorry, but now that I have just looked back at the other reviews, this dish is not mine alone to disparage. Since reading their response, we shall not be...

Went here for Valentine's day dinner. My hubby called ahead and was told by owner it is best MD style around crabcakes. We. Are MD natives and after our meal we realized we were expecting too much of the "Maryland Style" Crabcakes and crabs. We ordered the crabcake platter and they only have a fried crabcake option. I like mine Broiled MD style and when I asked the waitress she had me speak to the chef because she didn't know what I meant by Broiled Crabcakes. Chef told me they can only do fried which was a major disappointment. My husband got the fried option and they were 2 small cakes with crispy outer layer and they put the lump meat on outside of cake but packed inside with claw and backfin in middle and it wasn't well mixed together but layered into each section. Pretty sneaky cheap tactic which creates a poor quality cake. Not MD style. The only difference seemed to be they didn't put peppers in it like typical FL style and tried to pass off as a MD style. We got the crab stuffed mushroom caps which were good but caps were 6 baby mushroom with too much butter sauce but if you order the garlic bread you can dip into sauce. I ordered a skipper's net meal expecting it to be steamed but it was all fried. Again was told they only fry after food came. It includes shrimp, fish fillet, scallops, and oysters. I picked at it and ended up not eating the meal. The breading was thick so you really don't get a big seafood portion after you take off breading. 2/4 pieces of oysters tasted old and rubbery. Shrimp was on small side, and they put on a hige bed of fries so you feel you get a large meal. We got a dozen steamed crabs and it was a mix of sizes and mostly males. The crabs mostly tasted swampy and runny with 4/12 packed and large sized that was steamed just right. The rum bread pudding was very good though. The waitress seeing I was disappointed with dinner offered me a yummy tropical rum drink that she recommended. That and the bread pudding was pretty much my dinner meal at that point. I really wouldn't recommend this as a Maryland style restaurant despite all the MD pictures on walls. I won't come back to this...

Overall, my experience was good BUT I'm writing this review to make a point about service. Everyone we met provided SUPERIOR service to our family. Everyone except Kristin. The hostess (who I assumed was the owner), the guys at the bar and another waitress were so kind and kept checking on us as we waited to be seated. We waited much longer than the expected time to be seated but we didn't care too much because of how kind everyone was. Once we were seated, our waitress (Kristin) came to our table with a 'what do you want' attitude. She walked right up to our table and started asking for orders. No introduction of herself, no hello to us, not even so much as a smile the entire time. Her poor attitude was apparent to everyone at the table. I asked for her name when she came to our table the second visit. The 3rd visit you could tell she was making an effort to clean up her act up by making sure she checked on us often and filling drinks but still no smile, never asked if our meals were ok, no warmness in her tone. Clearly, we didn't expect her to entertain us but we also did not expect to be served by someone with such a poor attitude. I'm a business owner and if an employee treated my customers that way- that employee would be fired. PERIOD. I always hire for attitude because you can teach skill. Again, I LOVED the hostess, loved the guys at the bar. One particular guy was AMAZING and I regret I forgot his name. He was singing and having a good time while working. He made our drinks and came back to make sure we liked them. Place was CLEAN! Clean bathrooms, loved to vibe in this family oriented place. I plan to...
