My family and I enjoy eating out. Rarely do I leave a review GOOD or BAD unless its seriously warranted. I belive I've always tried to be fair when reviewing food establishment. I've decided to give Julington Creek Fish Camp a second try, BAD mistake. There were multiple issues with our 24 Aug 2024 visit, 7:00 PM reservations. Got there early with hopes to get seating early. There was an open table that was already bussed and could accommodate our family of eight, hostess said we had to wait 30 min until our reservation....fair enough, 30 minutes later we were sat at the very same table that was open when we first got there. Fair enough, perhaps somebody canceled their reservation and it was just coincidence. A person in our party had healthy conditions and food allergies that prevent her from eating most things on the menu BUT surely an establishment this big could accommodate one chicken breast. ONE chicken breast with nothing fancy. She was served a small half a chicken breast that was cut up into 5 small strips - the kitchen should be embarrassed to serve this. We asked for a side salad with a dressing that did not have dairy. When the waitress came back, we asked if dressing was indeed dairy free, she wasn't sure but wanted to "quadruple check" to make sure. This restaurant doesn't care if the customer get seriously sick. My brother and I had to return our pasta dishes because the pasta was still hard and uncooked. How hard is it to boil pasta? My sister had to return her Ahi because they didn't bother to sear it before serving. Throughout all the issues we having with the nonchalant waitress and returning uncooked food, not once did the manager come out and try to make things right. ABSOLUTE HORRIBLE EXPERINCE HERE! Not done. Our table was directly in front of the entrance from the parking lot, We were blinded by every vehicle head light every that left the parking lot during our visit. Finally, eager to get this experience behind us, we get to the Valet service that had at least 5 people waiting because there was only one valet working the whole parking lot. The young man was literally running from vehicle to vehicle to keep people from waiting. Great job on this guy for his sense of urgency but i really wasnt happy getting into my vehicle and sitting in some elses...
Read moreLadies and gentlemen, buckle up because I am about to take you on a wild ride through my unforgettable experience at Julington Creek Fish Camp!
Picture this - a Friday night, a romantic date with my hubby, and the promise of exceptional seafood and drinks awaiting us at Julington Creek Fish Camp. Oh boy, did this place deliver beyond our wildest expectations!
We snagged a spot outside with a breathtaking river view just in time for the majestic sunset. Pro tip: make a reservation because this place is poppin'! Our server, Keira, was an absolute gem, and the service was so seamless it felt like a carefully choreographed dance. Kudos to the entire team for their top-notch service!
Now, let's talk libations. My hubby's old fashion was crowned the king of all restaurant-made old fashions - he savored every sip like it was liquid gold. As for me, the cosmo martini was a delectable treat, served in a slightly smaller martini glass which, let's face it, is most likely due to the mysterious case of shrinkflation. But fear not, I swiftly switched to an amerrro sour that hit all the right notes!
But wait, the real showstopper - the food! Brace yourself, my gluten-free friends, because guess what? They have a dedicated gluten-free fryer! Yes, you read that right - you can indulge in crispy, golden gluten-free fried seafood here! I dove headfirst into a smorgasbord of fried calamari, fish, shrimp, and scallops, all perfectly coated in a gluten-free batter. It was a revelation, a feast fit for a queen! Paired with the creamy grits, it was a match made in seafood heaven.
Even my husband, opting for the non-gluten-free version, was left speechless by the delightful flavors on his plate. This place, my friends, is a perfect 10 in my book. Thanks to its tantalizing gluten-free fried options, Julington Creek Fish Camp has secured a permanent spot in my heart as my go-to seafood haven.
To all my fellow foodies out there, especially my gluten-free comrades, do not walk, RUN to Julington Creek Fish Camp for an unforgettable culinary experience that will have you singing its praises for...
Read moreWent for a mid day meal around 3 pm, and it was pouring rain. My mom and mom in law who are in their late seventies had to walk up the slippery steps in the pouring down rain to get to the restaurant part as the downstairs had a closed sign on the door. When we were seated it was so cold inside that we asked to move to the outdoor deck. The bald headed, short employee (maybe a manager) was obviously annoyed that we asked to move. (There was 5 employees just hanging out around the kitchen door) They said they had to clean a table first. He looked at my umbrella that was wet and said as he rolled his eyes to “be careful because the floor is now wet”. Insinuating that my umbrella had made a mess (again it was pouring outside) I overlooked his snarky comment and we followed him out to the deck. He sat us at a table in front of a huge fan. (We were wet from the rain and chilled, which was the reason for moving outside to get away from the cool air). Again, my mom and mother in law are in their late 70s and chill easily. We asked to get away from the fan and he again huffed that he would have to clean that table. Since I knew he was annoyed with us I tried to help getting the menus and silverware and moving them to the new table and he came out with a loud voice and said “don’t set that on the table, I told you I had to clean it, I tried to tell you.” We then decided to leave. He obviously was miserable and didn’t want to have to do his job and we were and easy target to spew his nasty attitude on. I told him we were leaving. He yelled “have a great day” so loud and obnoxious that the other table of people looked up and took notice. I told him from the start it was frustrating because they had to walk up the steps in rain and it was unsafe and how does a disabled or older person get up here, was there and elevator in the building to which he yelled “we have a ramp we are in compliance. “. We will never come back here. The short bald guy needs to find another way to make a living because he obviously hates his job and the...
