I had the absolute pleasure of trying some amazing bbq from Jw 's Bbq in Jacksonville.

You can tell these folks know what they’re doing when it comes to meat👀. The brisket was perfectly seasoned and falling apart tender. We got 3 different kinds of sausages. Each one was uniquely different than the other, but they were all 3 amazing!!! We got the regular, chili cheese, and the jalapeño cheddar.

Omar Herrera got some crazy sandwich with brisket, pulled pork, mac and cheese, coleslaw, bbq sauce, and possibly something else🤷🏼‍♂️. It must have been good because he ate every single bite.

All of the sides (mac and cheese, potato salad, beans, and coleslaw) were amazing. I lied. I don’t eat coleslaw, so I really don’t know. Omar and my wife both liked it though.

They offered us a sweet bbq sauce and a spicy one. I really liked the sweet one.

The owner (I’m assuming he was the owner) even brought us out a slice of maple bourbon brisket cheesecake. I’ll admit; the texture of the brisket on the cheesecake was different. Just something I’m not used to. Either way, it was delicious.

I highly recommend making the short drive to Jacksonville and trying this place out.

Unfortunately, they sold out of ribs shortly before we arrived. We cried a bit when they told us, but we’ll definitely be making a trip back out to try them. I’m sure...

When you find yourself in the charming town of Jacksonville, Texas, JW's Barbecue is a must-visit destination for all barbecue enthusiasts. The brisket, is nothing short of amazing. Slow-cooked to perfection, the tender meat bursts with smoky flavor that will leave you craving more with each bite. It's an experience that will make you appreciate the art of barbecue.

Not to be outdone, JW's house-made sausage is a true delight. Crafted with a perfect blend of spices and high-quality meat, each bite delivers a burst of juicy and savory goodness. Whether enjoyed alone or paired with their brisket, the sausage is a treat that showcases the mastery of their culinary skills.

Behind this culinary haven stands the warm and friendly owner, Jonathan. His passion for barbecue is evident in the exceptional flavors he produces, and his genuine hospitality creates an inviting atmosphere that makes you feel right at home. The fact that JW's Barbecue is a family-run establishment adds to its charm and gives it a personal touch that's hard to find elsewhere.

So, if you're searching for an unforgettable barbecue experience, look no further than...

Visited here twice in the last two weeks based on a recommendation and the food didn’t disappoint. The first visit we showed up shortly after noon and most of the sides and the ribs were sold out. My wife had the sliced beef and turkey with sides of potato salad and coleslaw. She enjoys the sliced brisket the most. Coleslaw is vinegar based, but fresh and flavorful. I had pulled pork, chopped brisket, potato salad and baked beans. I really enjoyed the pulled pork flavor and the sides. It comes with a sweet sauce on the side which I used sparingly. It was really good, but quality bbq doesn’t need to be disguised in a sauce.

Second visit we got there closer to 11 am when they open. Fortunately they had ribs and Mac and cheese which we were really wanting to try. The ribs had great smoky flavor and fell off the bone. The Mac and cheese was thick and creamy.

Overall, I think this is the best bbq I’ve had in East Texas. If you’re around Jacksonville make sure to visit...

My 86th 'cue stop in Texas, and the 371st on a nationwide journey covering 35 states to date, is a restaurant well off the interstate that is well regarded by the local community, and with good reason. $23.37 purchased a quarter pound of fatty brisket, a jalapeno cheddar sausage, and sides of elote and squash/zucchini. A refillable soft drink (unsweetened tea) rounded out the order. The brisket features moist and tender meat with exceptional bark. This is a great bite-- and don't hesitate to ask for a bit of burnt end. This is meat candy! The sausage has great balance and snap. It is truly one of the best of its kind to be found in Texas. Both sides were dead on. And as is so often the case in the universe of small town BBQ, the price point is more than fair. Make an effort to get here, and do try and beat the noontime crowd. It's worth the effort; owner and pitmaster Jonathan Wilson is putting out a product that rivals the best in The Lone Star State.

WOW! This experience was unexpected in such a small town. The food, hospitality, and experience was absolutely one of the best ever, in all of our travels. It's an unassuming red building off of the highway, but the food is out of this world. There are lots of different options for a BBQ place, which is appreciated. It's not your average place with boring sandwiches, meat plates, and sides. Back to the food, both brisket sandwiches were a different variety. One had sausage, the other jalapeños and coleslaw both with chopped brisket... both were OUTSTANDING! The sides we chose were pinto beans and kale salad, which were also amazing! We ended up meeting Mike the chef and JW's parents, which were so kind and made us feel right at home like we were locals. We ended up buying the bbq sauce. We concur with them being deemed top 5 in Texas, this bbq would put many others out of business. We will be back!
