Larry's Giant Subs — Restaurant in Jacksonville

My first visit was a week ago and I revisited it today, Blanding Blvd. Next to Floor Decor. First off, let me just commend Larry's for a sparkling front door. There is nothing that grosses me more than a filthy, never cleaned store front door, especially for a food establishment. As I walked in, a young lady was on her knees cleaning the wall and the place was quite clean, even where the floor meets the baseboards which is never clean in most places since usually a teenager simply pushes dirty water around. I was greeted, order taken and service was fast. My sandwich, The Animal, was delicious, bread super fresh, lettuce not brown and ripe tomatoes that actually tasted like tomatoes. Tables were all cleaned and overall great experience. Fast forward to today and I have been craving it since my first visit. Simply repeat the first visit comments minus a young lady cleaning. Place was spotless, service was good, front door clean and sandwich was awesome! Thank you for restoring my faith...

Man...it literally has been over 15 years since I've seen one of these. As soon as I saw this place, I turned around and took my son here. Told my son that Firehouse Subs, Subway, and Jersey Mike's has NOTHING on Larry's. NOTHING! No competition! Hands down the best! I remember when I used to get the tuna sub because their portion and quality were the best. Soon, I took the first bite, the flavor brought back memories, and still is the best! Then I told my son that this place is literally known for 3ft and 6ft subs. He was like HOW?!? This place was showing their giant subs on their TV, and he almost had to change his pants when he saw i wasn't lying. Subway needs to all close and be replaced by Larry's for sure! The staff was super polite, and the store was clean and organized. If you've never eten here before, drop what you're doing and dine...

I travel for work and I get to eat at a lot of great places, but one of my all time favorite sandwich shops in the world is Larry’s Giant Subs. Both being Jacksonville icons, Firehouse sold out and got cheap, but Larry’s kept it real and authentically tasty. The Ultimate is my go to sandwich choice. The bread is moist and chewy and they heat the meat and cheese versus steaming it. The toppings are also much better including that sub oil they use. Anytime I get to travel in Florida, especially Jacksonville, I make it a point to get me some Larry’s. And while I grew up on it, and nostalgically love it, it truly is a great sandwich compared to the many others I’ve had in my travels. Very few can compare. Thanks Larry’s.
