The cupcakes were dry and flavorless, was refused a refund after receiving a large order of subpar quality baked goods and told that I ate their product wrong which contributed to my dissatisfaction (they did not advise that there was a specific way to eat their baked goods when purchased). I purchased 10 cupcakes (5 keto and 5 regular) and a keto cheesecake all for $54. A little pricey yes, but it's an up-and-coming business so I understood that as long as it was worth it, right? I brought them home to taste. I gave one cupcake away, ate the keto cheesecake, and I found them to be terrible after trying a few of the flavors. They looked great, but the cake was dry and there really wasn't a lot of flavor even though I got the most basic flavors that everyone should know how to prepare perfectly. I was purchasing some for my family thinking I was going to be reimbursed for some of the cost by them, but the product ended up being so subpar that I decided I simply wanted to throw everything away. I decided against that and took the product all the way back to the store despite living 30 minutes away to get a refund. I brought back only the things I wanted a refund for. Yes, I tasted a few to see if I was just crazy and because I couldn’t tell the difference between the keto and non-keto as they were all placed in one big box. Basic business etiquette is if someone isn't happy with the service or product you supply, then you refund or attempt some sort of remedy to the situation to make the customer happy. Instead, this business told me: "These cakes are different, they are butter cakes. These aren't like the box cakes you typically get that are oil based, like Publix, so they aren't going to be as moist. Did you eat them cold? Oh yeah, you should have left them out. That’s the problem, you ate them cold. We’re not going to tell customers how to eat their cupcakes, but you should have left them out. If I gave everyone a refund based on the fact they didn't like the taste, then I wouldn’t have a business. Sorry sweetie." If I wasn’t supposed to consume your product cold, why keep it refrigerated ready to be sold in a café setting where people would want to immediately consume what they have purchased? All I wanted to do was give them constructive criticism and get my money back for what I brought back, but the woman believed I was just about the money. Honestly, I wasn't going to go back up there and I was going to take the loss however, my mother advised me otherwise. I am an unemployed college student, so $54 lost is a lot of money but the manager seemed to not really care about anyone or anyone's opinions besides her own. I’m just completely disappointed in this place, the service provided by the manager (maybe one of the owners, her name was Barbara), and the quality I received. My mother even called to back me up as I was beside myself simply in awe at the level of service and unsurprisingly she was awarded the same rudeness and entitlement I received. I understand that this was partially on me since I blindly purchased a large quantity without knowing the quality, but if someone isn’t satisfied with your business or product, at least try to make things right. Don’t talk condescendingly to them or call them “sweetie” or “darling” to euphemize your words. I’m sure their food is much better than their baked goods, but I will never know now because I will never be returning to this business and I will be telling everyone I know not to visit. Good lessons learned for my future purchases from a new business, and hopefully they’ll learn how to handle...
Read moreThis review is strictly for the keto selection as we didn't try the regular desserts
So after being on Keto for years, we're always looking for good alternatives to our favorites when going out, so hearing about a place that had keto desserts was a must visit. Over the years we've done a plethora of desserts ourselves, some really successful, others not at all, making keto desserts isn't as easy as normal ones so we really wanted to try these out so we had an alternative when going out.
Firstly, the service. It was 'alright', we felt rushed even though there were no other customers waiting and the person at the counter seemed really impatient but that's ok.
As far as the food, we like to try a variety of things to get a good feel of a place we visit for the first time so we tried out their red velvet, lemon cake, carrot cake and brownie. The red velvet was so-so, it tasted more like generic chocolate-flavored item and the frosting was meh, tasted more of xylatol than frosting which seemed to be a reoccuring theme with most of the keto desserts in this location, one good reoccuring theme though was that the desserts were moist and not dry which can be a common thing with some keto desserts.
Next, the brownie, which for the size was way overpriced, tasted and felt more like batter than actual brownie which was super dissapointing considering that while $6 for the cupcakes was a fair deal considering their specialty items and fairly decent sized, the brownie was a bite sized piece that left a lot of dissapointment.
The carrot cake was a heartbreaker for me because I love carrot cake and it's one of the normal desserts I miss the most. This one tasted like mush :( and once again the frosting tasted more like xylotol than frosting.
The savior here was the lemon cake. We've made one ourselves in the past and this one was good. Moist, not dry; good flavor and the frosting was a lot more balanced and tasty than the others if I ever passed by again and was feeling too lazy to make my own, that'd be my go to for sure.
Overall the experience left a lot to be desired but I'm willing to give it another go sometime in the future.
-Side note: It'd probably be a good idea to note somewhere that the use of keto sweeteners can sometimes work as a form of laxative as noted in a lot of sugar free sweets especially when done in those...
Read moreNot sure if I was super hungry or the sandwich was really good but it hit the spot. The 8in sandwich is about $7 which is about even with the quality but a side of chips or small something would compliment it well and the cost would tilt towards good value.
The staff that was working while we were there was very knowledgeable and friendly. The inside is a little space but it looks like a work in progress. Overall it's very kid friendly which is a plus.
Their main display is their bakery. The bakery was ok, we tried two cupcakes. The bread on the sandwich was great and I would consider picking up the bread to take home. The cupcakes were refrigerated which I wasn't a fan of, they do say to eat them at room temp but that doesn't work well if you dine in. The banana frosting had maybe a little too much banana flavor, and the cake was a bit heavier than I like {personal preference}.
They have lots of keto options which are pricy because the ingredients are more expensive, so expect to pay a little more for that option. But the keto (sugar free) stuff is pretty good. You couldn't tell.
The coffee is basic but they do offer it. They are apperently looking into getting a proper espresso machine which I think would be a nice touch!
I would recommend stopping by and trying their Italian sandwich. Also would recommend bakery that typically wouldn't have artificial flavoring. I would go back again, but I am giving it a 4 out of 5. If the staff was not so friendly and it was not so kid friendly, I would give it a 3, but they made up for their shortcomings.
If I were to tell them my thoughts, I would tell them to keep room temp cupcakes for dine in customers, maybe include chips or a tabouli salad with the sandwich, and maybe a tiny bit less banana flavoring in the banana s foster cupcake. Otherwise keep up the good work and I will see...
