Jacksonville has a surprisingly large amount of Thai restaurants and while out near Mayport, I got a chance to eat here. I was very excited given the high ratings. I was slightly wary, however, as this place is a filipino/thai restaurant. This is a trend at a couple restaurants around Jacksonville. What I find when places offer ethnic foods of two different ethnicities is that at times you lose out on authenticity. I experience this at Korean/Japanese restaurants too. The Japanese food is more Koreanized or vice versa. I got the Drunken noodles and friend had Pad Thai. It was nice that they had a lunch special. I paid 9 bucks which isn't shaby. However, I left hungry as the portion was small. My favorite Thai joint in town has 1.5x the portion size, with excellent artistic presentation, and they add on an egg roll and a small soup all included in a nice 8 buck package. The presentation was average. The drunken noodle itself was 3/5 as it was monodimensional and was mostly sweet. It lacked the savoriness that I come to love that can balance the sweet with drunken noodles. However, after adding their chili to the dish, it vastly improved. The chili tray was underwhelming, though. I was given a tray with no oil with the chili oil (whoever used it previously used all the oil) and very few peppers.
At checkout, I was almost also charged 4 bucks more for my meal, but luckily I realized this before paying and let them know.
Would love to come back to try some of their other dishes including their Filipino dishes and to get more of an inside scoop.
I can see why people come here. They have a good hot bar that is $8 during lunch and may be the best option in the Mayport area. However, if I had a choice, I would go elsewhere in Jacksonville for my...
Read moreWhen we arrived at 7:30 the Restaurant only had seven tables seated . We were seated in less than 10 minutes. We ordered appetizers and main course at once. To start we ordered the chicken satay and and Tom kha soup as a starter. For main course, we ordered the pad Thai and the 3 curry kingdom . The waitress did not wrote it down the order and I asked her if she would remember the order. She said yes and left. ( not a smile yet) We received the Chicken satay served with a thick strange sauce, the chicken had two different colored chicken and definitely wasn’t grilled . After a few minutes I asked where was the Tom kha soup, apparently she forgot it and it came in after the first main course. Told the waitress it was too late and she took it back without an apology nor a smile. The 3 kingdoms curry came a few minutes later and was the best part of the meal. A another waiter filled up our water, thanks to him! The waitress never ask about the meal except when the came to ask if we wanted some dessert as we still had half of our food in our plate. We told her we were not finished but she dropped the credit card machine on the table, saying whenever you are ready…still not a smile on her face! The food was barely okay not great, the service was terrible…we were looking forward to enjoying a great Thai dinner but ended up regretting being there. Maybe Chef Nancy wasn’t there but she should know that the quality of the food and the service will keep us away from...

Tofu proudly listed as an ingredient in several dishes, no need to ask for it as a meat substitute.Ordered the spicy garlic tofu. The food quality is good-the vegetables cooked to perfection and fresh. I ordered spicy 3 of 5 and it actually was spicy because usually restaurants do not make spicy food spicy. But while finally spicy, the sauce itself was a bit bland. But the tofu was cooked well with a nice, crispy outside.I ordered the side salad with peanut dressing on the side. It was a nice size and great dressing!!! My co-worker ordered the peanut sauce veggies and tofu but she is a really picky eater and felt the sauce was too thick. She loved her spring rolls she also ordered. The noodles she had were cold and congealed in a lump and when she complained the waitress acted as if she expected the customer to just suck it up. I would have been surprised but for a man who was outraged when he found he had been waiting for his to go order for 20 minutes and was informed ‘oops’ it has been here getting cold all along. They offered him no price reduction or extra food even though he said he was a regular and was clearly upset. So I guess customer satisfaction is not a big priority. My co-worker disliked it so much she did not eat her meal but I tried a bite and while the sauce was really thick it actually had some flavor so I think it was fine. $12 for a meal and like $5...
