Expensive, but pleasant. The restaurant is dimly-lit, but in an aesthetically pleasing way that is a balm to light-sensitive eyes. The menu has a nice variety, so unless you're super picky you should find something that piques your interest.

The average single-person meal + a drink will likely be around the mid-20s unless you get your pickings from the kids' menu (where a meal will be a little over 10 dollars with drink). Recommended to pay with cash, as a 4% discount is given if you do.

I ordered the American-style street tacos (the Mexican-style has cilantro, and I unfortunately have the soap gene) with carne asada as the meat. It's three soft tacos, but you wouldn't know that from my image because I ate #3 before realizing that I should probably attach an image. Sorry. It's good. The cheese gives a nice pop of saltiness that I really appreciate. I don't know, I'm not a professional food reviewer. I'm just some random whitey eating tacos to fill the void. They also give you complimentary tortilla chips + salsa. Don't try to eat them in bed like I did; the chips will get angry at you. The girl at front was nice. Expect a mild wait to receive service, as the place isn't super staffed, so the cashier will likely slip into the kitchens when left idle to help out there.

I remember when this place was more homely and whimsical. I sat across from my mom in a booth and we demolished the complimentary tortilla chips and salsa. I don't know what I got, but it was good and I was happy. I saw evidence that my mother had been a person before she'd had children. She should never have become a mom, or perhaps even a wife.

Overall: good food, pleasant atmosphere. This place would be nice for a...

This is definitely one of the best Mexican restaurants in Jacksonville, which unfortunately isn't saying much. However, Casa Leon is a pleasant surprise.

The meal started right with fresh chips and salsa. The salsa is definitely the best I have had in the area, with fresh cilantro, onion, and tomatoes. The chips are also excellent, freshly baked and hot.

I started with the queso fundido with chorizo, which is accompanied with three flour tortillas. With the size of the fundido, I could have used more tortillas, but the fundido was extremely flavorful with lots of chorizo and lots of ooey gooey goodness.

I chose the enchiladas verdes, as they were on special, only $8.99 for three large enchiladas stuffed with chicken. The chicken could have been more tender, but it was made up for by the excellent green sauce that accentuated the chicken. The beans with the special were also a stand-out, fresh and soft. The Mexican rice was the biggest disappointment, really no flavor and not worth eating.

Gotta love a Mexican restaurant inhabiting an old fast food restaurant. This is what makes America Great, immigrant families starting amazing businesses in the left over shells of the Hardees that abandoned ship. As a result, there isn't a ton of "atmosphere," but who cares. You're not really coming here for a date night experience, you're coming for the food, and the food makes it worth...

My wife and I went for the second time and each time we have ordered it’s been delightful!! She had the chimichanga with avocado salad which was fresh and very tasty. I had the tacos and they were very generous with the shredded beef. I think the best part is the chips and salsa .. the salsa is the best I’ve ever had. A little sweet on the front end and then a nice burn on the back .. very flavorful. We almost couldn’t eat our meal because we enjoyed the chips and salsa so much. The staff is very friendly and the food is served quickly and fresh. I highly recommend this diamond in the rough.

Unassuming family restaurant that packs a flavourful punch. We got the tacos al pastor (tacos were a little dry and could use maybe some tomatoes or sour cream, shredded cheese or something like that IMO). My wife got a nachos supreme that were one of the best we ever had. Verdict: delicious food at a very reasonable price, serve with a familiar smile. Will come back soon!!! BTW, they offer Happy Hour and military discount (only at dinner time though).
