This to be my favorite place to eat in Jacksonville and in Oxford since 2002. It has been going downhill since last year. I have thought that if I came back couple of months later several times service and attitudes from waitresses would be better especially if we had different waitress. This is the 5th time I have came since March 2024. Everytime food is burnt or don't taste right. Chicken wings and chicken fingers one time was even not done. They come to table fill the drinks never come back for refills. But you are eatting spicy food need more drink when u need it. Well today all this happened at the same time. We were here at 12:30 pm literally did not get food till 1:45 pm. It don't take that long to fix food. I had an appt at 2 pm. I very nicely walked to the cash register to request the ticket. The older lady said she will be with you in minute if you will just go back to your table. I told her a had a appointment and said oh well she will be with you in a minute. They gave us extra sauces we didn't order and the blue cheese was nasty. I returned the blue cheese immediately. The tea was sour. We ordered 4 and had to change the drinks. They charged us for every sauce they gave us. We returned 6 sauces. The waitress finally came over at 2:10 pm to hand me the ticket. She started taking off the extra sauces then stopped and then told older lady to get me took care of. Then older lady said I will get to her when I have time to. She came up with 5 more tables to go to before she came back with her attitude. She took an extra 15 mins to get me. When she came back to the cash register. She said you requested the sauces. I said no we requested the one for each for each of the foods we ordered that came with our food. There were 4 adults and 1 child. I paid $80 for the food that was not right. Tonight (04-03-19), we returned again to do trivia for the first time in months. Wow, it has definitely changed. We were extremely disappointed in the food, service, and manners of the staff. I called about an hour before our arrival and asked if we could reserve a table near our friends for a party of five. I was told by the man that answered my call that we could. When we arrived, our table was not prepared or available. My friends had extra seats at their table. SITTING WITH OUR FRIENDS WOULD HAVE RESULTED IN AN 18% GRATUITY BEING ADDED TO EACH CHECK FROM THAT TABLE. We could have sat alone in the corner of the restaurant. But, this would have defeated the purpose of visiting the restaurant. I tried to talk to the male bartender. He basically told me what I was going to do and I could take it or leave it. I found another staff member to see if I could speak to someone in charge. While I was speaking with her, the bartender walked across the restaurant to intervene in our conversation. He did not want to offer any help or service. His attitude came across as "sit where I tell you, give us your money, pay the gratuity and like it!" He seemed to know that 18% was "pretty standard" in the restaurant industry for gratuity. But, no one in the restaurant knows that it is industry standard that when a reservation is made a table is RESERVED. Read moreI was visiting a relative and decided to swing by JSU to check out some places to eat. We decided on Struts...sadly this was a big mistake during a lunch rush hour.
We came in with about 5-6 other parties right behind us. Right away, I could tell that things could go sideways.
We sit down and have our drinks taken. She delivered everyone's waters / soda while I waited on my tea that the server said was brewing. A few minutes later, the tea comes out and sadly, it was sour.
We then ordered our food - I decided on the mini burg / wings (after all they're "the best wings in town") and my girlfriend ordered a build your own cheese fry. My girlfriend's dad also ordered the wings.
We waited a longgggg time to get it (see 5-6 parties comment above). While we waited, our server kept coming to apologize. She offered crackers for the kids since they were starving which was appreciated.
We finally received our food. I bite into the fries - delicious. Burgers - tasty! Meanwhile my girlfriend's dad is complaining that his wings are burnt. I ignored it thinking he had ordered boneless and I had traditional.
I got to my wings and realized we had both ordered traditional wings.
I took a bite into one of the driest chicken wings ever. It felt like eating chicken dust.
I would normally give this a 3/5 stars considering the other food was excellent, but the basis of a whole restaurant is chicken wings, and if the chicken wings aren't great, then you don't need to be advertising as such.
I will be skipping Struts to hand down to Jefferson's or Buffalo Wild Wings...
